When you eat a lot of fibre you have more residue in your stomach, a low fibre diet with a calorie restriction for a few days helps to empty it up.
Fibre is great for health but it's unnecessary bulk when you're competing.

Dude we're not talking about an everyday thing, it's a technique that is used in the last couple of days to lose a little extra for competition. If you don't have the discipline to ignore cravings for two days before competition then you're probably wasting your time trying to be good at a sport.

Thanks VERY much. I would say i have a good diet and i do eat alot of fibre (wholewheat breads, pasta, fruits etc). Mind if i ask you about good sources of carbs while im low fibre?

Lefty, any diet changes before a fight could have severe impact on your performance. I do not recommend trying it for the first time before a big event. You are probably ok since you adjusted but for others its a bigger deal.

Bull****, it doesn't take any ad******g or have any negative effects on performance. You have all your macros you need and it helps you to dehydrate less so if anything it's going to improve performance. A lot of athletes do this before competition even in sports where they don't have to make weight, just to feel lighter and have a slight increase in their strength to weight ratio.
You aren't doing much, just avoiding fibre for a couple of days.
It's nothing scary or anything that your body only magically adapts to after the 7th time you do it.
I would recommend for people to practice cutting to their comp weight for practice just so they know how to do it and how they feel, if they can afford to eat more etc.
If you haven't then no big deal, and a tip like this can save someone dehydrating an extra kilo. Dehydration affects performance negatively, low residue does nothing of the sort.

Just google search 'low residue diet' and I'm sure it will come up with more foods than I can think of off the top of my head.
They are the foods you might avoid a bit usually, they aren't good foods for health. refined sugars, jams, cordial, fruit juice, white bread etc.
When I've done it I've felt great, some people crash after eating carbs like that so if that's you then you don't want to eat just before your contest. I find that eating lots of small meals/snacks helps rather than big meals, for me anyway.

    you're laughing mate.

Seriously is that weight in the morning after a **** or not?
If it isn't, make sure you poo before your weighin. If you have a nervous stomach (like me), this won't be a problem.
Whats your diet like? If there is a lot of bread, pasta, carb sources like that, cut them out a day beforehand. Have a bit of fruit throughout the day but no big carb portions, you'll lose that kilo no problem. same if you have any sodas, fruit juices etc, cut them out a day (24-36 hours) beforehand.
you can do a lot to lose a kilo in a few days. you can sit in a hot bath for 10 minutes, get out and immediately wrap yourself in towels for another 10 minutes, repeat that 2-3 times, and you will lose a kilo for sure, weigh yourself after the 10 minutes wrapped up before you get back in. cold flannel on the face when in the bath, its unpleasant.
if you want to clear out your bowels a bit, get some dandelion root from a health store, and take one around a day beforehand, or the night before the day before your fight. High dose vitamin c (3-5grams+) has the same effect.
I'd certainly do food changes as your first port of call, that will certainly be enough in this case, before making yourself poo and dehydrating.
I was going to mention low residue foods for the days leading up to the fight but lefty beat me to it!
    when is the fight, Friday?

Lefty - There is plenty of information on the internet that could argue both ways. I'm not necessary sure I agree with you based on past experiences in the amateur boxing days. I now weigh in the night before the fight giving me time to collect my energy if I had to cut weight. However, I use to have to weigh in on the day of the fight and felt very week during times I had to cut weight. From my own experiences, I've found that being at the correct weight a week before the fight will allow me to focus more on rest two days before the fight instead of cutting weight.
