Im not sure if this is an example of what your looking for as the fight was NOT a fix, but there was a hell of a lot of last minute money put onto steve cruz when he fought McGuigan in Vegas. I cant remember off the top of my head the exact numbers involved (betting odds, not wagers),but i do know that it had to be a really significant number of bets and outlay for the odds to change as dramatically as they did.

By 1954,Willie Pep was a shell of himself when he was "kod" by Lulu Perez.
Lulu Perez was a darn good young fighter, and i am not sure there was a "fix"
    We will never know...

If a guy gets knocked down and is able get up before the 10 count, but
    decides instead to stay down....

Does that fall into the category of "fixed"?

Difference between a "fix" and "taking a dive". I suppose, is a big one. I think Sonny tanked in both fights and Muhammad wasn't clued in, BTW.

The biggest dive I ever saw was Eddie M. Muhammad knocking a guy out named Elvis Parks by a punch that showed more light than indy wrestlers in their first match. Afterwards, EMM crowed that "I felt that punch all the way down to my toes". Right.

"Fixed"? That would have to include decisions scored in favor of the "house fighter" no matter what happened in the ring. I'll take Augustus/Hooper as the fight I was the angriest about afterwards as far as "rigging" the decision.

NYSAC begged to differ with you. And Pep never got his licence back to fight in the City...

I understand what you are saying. It is very hard to totally prove a fix. And a lot of what has been posted on here, are personal opinions, but for what is worth, unlike (I believe) all the other fights mentioned, sanctions were actually taken against Pep.

And maybe I am being naive, but surely for them sanctions to happen, Pep would of been investigated and allowed to answer the evidence, before being judged guilty?

And of course we have the numerous infamous set ups involving Gastineau. Which tragically led to a murder (of Parker), by Tim Doc Anderson. Many people believing the tragedy being Anderson has to serve time for the murder...

99.9 times out of a 100, it falls into the category of a smart fighter, making sure he can fight another day...

    You're blind if you don't consider Pep/Perez a dive.

    How would you arrange that?

The corupt judges scoring would have to at least loosley reflect what happened in a given round. They would not know this untill they saw the fight.

They could score the fight to favour a King fighter, but they could not deliberately arrange a draw.

we have all seen a lot of fights where a guy realises he cant win and looks for a place on the canvas but are they fixed? Sometimes fighters take fights when they are already done with boxing, they they take one last fight knowing full well they are overmatched, underprepared and dont want to get beat up. Even though their hart isnt in it do they plan it by round and bet agaisnt themselves or do they get themselves half fit and see how it goes? maybe some figters are that bitter that they decide if somebody is going to get ****ed they dont want to be the ****ee anymore and turn the tables but I recaon the real reson is something else.

sometimes fighters are so delusional when their careers wind down they cant even see it hapening to them. each time they lose they blame it on something else without recognising they dont train anymore, they excuse this and finaly they are in a ring so exposed they have no option but to quit. they're so delusional they cant even make a quitjob look convincing. 90% of pathetic endings look like a fix but IMO it is usual this scenario.

Augustus/Burton had an investigation, but apparently no foul play was involved.
