Your family have done very well. I have often wondered about a connection between Alby Roberts and Brian & Co. You're Shorty??
I just checked Willie Kicketts facebook wall and he say's he's fightin' in a couple of months...there's also abit of other funny **** on there...
This is a great idea this......... I have a soft spot for Elley Bennett, he was a huge puncher, and robbed of a title shot by the "old Colour Bar"...... It should have been Elley that Carruthers fought for the title...... That would have been a closer fight, just like the one for the Aussie Title was.
Great to see Jerome's name again,..... I read that when Eddie McGoorty knocked Jerry out the crowd was stunned and so were the pro's there, it seems Jerome had some chin, they truly believed at that stage that he was un-Kayo-able.,,,,,,,,, But MCGoorty knocked HW's out so I'm not surprised....... great little read.
Your top 3 cannot be wrong,.. it's the same as mine, I think Hassen was awesome and maybe about #5....... great list, a few names I didn't know... thanks.
I saw a top 200 list once with no Rose in there.... Darcy was, but the scary thing is, if the author had Lionel as #1 Aussie...... we'd even have been left out of the Top 200, I'm starting to think some countries rate us as pretty darn weak... They tell me that in 140 years we have never produced a real man...... ouch !!!..... I don't believe a word of it but still.......... very ouch........ No wonder most Aussies only care about Cricket and footy and meat pies and beer....... nah that's about it.
I may have lost track,... just to be sure I have sands at #1,,,, Rose #2 and Richards #3, if that matches or not so be it.
Bloody hell, where on earth did you get all those names. Just for interest how do you rank the Sands brothers ????,,,,, Dave is obvious.... I think Alfie was next best, I would rate him higher than Frank "frosty" Darcy....... Frosty died very young like Les, 1919.... poor tragic family. My mate who boxed in the 60's said Alfie was very good at national level.
Well the Queenslanders did..... I think Mark Ella ran rings around wally, and it's hard to compare Brett Kenny and Wally......... genius's but opposites, .. who do want for directing a team about and picking the right player to pass to and all that,... well Wally,,, easy... despite that Brett was pretty damn good at that......... and who would you want to split the defence or to get in the open 80 metre's down from the tryline........ of course it's Kenny.. no two ways about it....... gee it's nice to talk league for a change.
