So tell us why did the Kovalev v Ward fight flop? They are 2 elite fighters, if people buy for the quality and not just the brand of the fighter involved why did this not produce? The fact is PPV is dead outside of Floyd Joy, Canelo and Pacquaio. If Canelo finally grows a pair and fights Golovkin, even if Golovkin destroys him in 1, there is no saying that he will become a PPV attraction. You might want to claim Golovkin is a PPV flop due to the quality of opposition bug show me a fighter nog named Floyd Joy, Canelo or Pac who is a draw in recent times?
I think It shows the quality is far from the first criteria when people purchase a ppv nowadays. It's a lot more about casual fanbase, mainly the nationalistic fanbase. Which is why Joshua who never fought a top15 HW is probably the second biggest draw in boxing behind Canelo.
Joshua is the second draw in England, not in Boxing as a whole. He won't be selling jack if he hosted a fight on PPV in America. Hell even Fury vs Klitschko wasn't on PPV.
Think it's rather obvious how terribly Ward has been managed throughout his career. The man won the super six yet the man he beat(Froch) went on to become far more famous. His issues with Goossen(Rest in Peace) were all over the web. This was nothing new to Goossen either. He had similar failures promoting Paul Williams. Paul Williams beats one of the most hyped up fighters at the time(Margarito) only to end up less famous than Margarito shortly after. Again, free education for you right here. The quality of the fight was high, but the promotion was bad(remember, I told you both are necessary in my post, read it again). There were more people discussing Golovkin vs Lemieux prior to that fight than this fight. Alvarez will give Golovkin the fight when Golovkin will finally score one meaningful win.
Excluding the old farths(Pac/Wlad/Cotto) who are near retirement, and as far as how much income you generate goes, he is.
I don't know why junior would say something like that, he's a student of the sport and I thought he'd favor Golovkin by decision or late stoppage. Maybe since he's been in the ring with Alvarez, he sees something in his ability that would give Gennady some problems. But to say he would beat him easily is far fetched. Anything can happen in boxing but I just can't imagine Alvarez beating Gennady in general, let alone easily.
So on one hand he says canelo wins easy... and on the other says he wouldn't make the fight if he was canelos promoter, a fight that is a top 3 biggest available fight for canelo at this time. Typical Floyd logic lol
Howcome? A cheater is a cheater. I feel like there's always double standards when we talk about Floyd. We were not knowing about the IV but now we know. As for Margarito, as C.J said: where are the plaster wraps? I can act like a fool too
Nazim Richardson's blatant lie about "Plaster Blocks" falling from Margarito's wraps started that whole shindig The CSAC took his word as gospel & banned Margarito. There never were any plaster blocks never any plaster at all. A good fighters career & good name was tarnished by lies. Why wasnt Richardson ever investigated?? That's my beef
Well do tell of Liam Smith's quality victories that obviously helped secure a fight with GGG. I mean the fight must have been great as Canelo dropped the title instead of fighting this cherry picking bum Golovkin.
Not to get this thread sidetracked, but do you honestly believe what you wrote? That's a pretty far fetched conspiracy theory. So Margarito is on an all time high after beating Cotto and you think the "powers that be" decided to screw him over right before his fight with a 38 year old Mosley? Margs had the backing of the Mexican fans at that time and was arguably a bigger draw at the moment than Shane, but you think the athletic commission had it in for ANtonio and just made it up? Ok than, I just have one question- why is it that Margarito looked so bad in that Mosley fight- in fact he's looked bad ever since that match. His shots against Shane weren't even buzzing him, and if he never had plaster to begin with, those shots should've rocked Mosley to his core. Shane kept coming forward all night and gave Antonio a one sided drubbing. The manner in which Margarito lost doesn't help his case whatsoever.
As a tune-up to moving back down to 154, it's definitely great. I mean, it's at the same level of opposition Golovkin has been feasting on his entire career. Only difference is, Alvarez fans know it's a tune-up, while Golovkin fans think he's leading the stairway to all-time greatness as he feasts on one hopeless bum after another.
Use that same level of scrutiny with Floyd Mayweather. I dare you. Oscar - Semi-Shot - LOL Pac - Semi-Shot - LOL Mosley - Shot - LOL Hatton - flat flooted plodder, should've lost to Collazo - LOL Corrales - Drained in a very perculiar case - LOL Castillo - Castillo won! Genaro - Past it - LOL Guerrero - fat welter version - LOL Berto - LOL Maidana - B grader, drew in the first fight - LOL Judah - B+ Grader, Mayweather should've been disqualified - LOL Corley - LOL Chavez - LOL Mitchell - Shot - LOL
