As you seem open to answering questions, why haven't GBP offered Golovkin a standard percentage split? It's the big question that no poster has yet been willing to answer when I ask them.
not very convincing ISal,Kirkland was the very meaning of a cherry pick, guy was half dead,Canelo hasn't fought anyone relevant in a long time and he has the luxury of picking who he wants. Floyd was an elite pound for pound Canelo has alway had too much of a weight advantage over all his opponents to be considered pound for pound.
Probably because most boxing contracts surrounding most top fighters come with a guarantee not a percentage. If there is a percentage its PPV.
So now you guys are going to dwell on Kirkland? A shot old has been in Rubio KTFO Lemieux. Kirkland and Lemiuex are not very far apart as far as ability and skill, and Lemiuex is sadly one of Ggg's better wins while Kirkland isn't even a top Canelo win.
This would be a PPV fight no? It makes sense to have a purse split yet Oscar and co. keep making these strange flat fee offers. The second Golovkin turns down a 65/35 offer i'll call him a flat out ducker as that's a fair offer IMO. 70/30 is worth considering but anything else is BS. That's just the way I see it.
Canelo had a down year but still managed to put together a better campaign than GGG which should tell you all you need to know. You look at the top 5 at 154/60 an argument could be made he had a better year than all them guys. also outside of Khan and Mayweather who did Canelo have these huge weight advantage over? Trout was 170+, Cotto was 160+,Angulo was 170+, Lara was around 170, Smith said he was around 170, who is he having these weight advantages over?
Why is it that in most if not all PPV fights there is always a guarantee not a percentage? As if 15 mil is not already a GREAT offer. Rarely does anyone get a percentage split. Fighters normally get guarantees. Why does Ggg always need special treatment to secure a fight? GGG has to be the most difficult fighter to negotiate with. The dude is a certified diva.
Lol... The same Rubio that was KTFO with one punch against Kofi Jantuah.. Do you even know who Jantuah was? Do you have some kind of magic crystal ball? GTFO..
I don't think you understand how a 'guarantee' works. All that means is what the fighter is guarannteed to get regardless of PPV sales. If it's more they get more if it's less then that's what they get. What Golovkin has been offered is a flat fee which is unusual in a fight of that magnitude. For example, K2 could offer Canelo a 15m flat fee offer which would far exceed his previous career high payday nobody would expect him to take it.
The same Kirkland that got destroyed by a feather fisted Ishida? See how easy that was. Rubio had the power to smash out Kirkland that's for damn sure so I'm not sure what you're on about.
That's the problem Isal. That you cant see how Kirkland is third tier, IS a problem. Because either a) you are doing what you do so often and that is spinning something in favor of a fighter you like, or b) it shows your lack of perception towards the sport, perceptions being the basis in which we form most of our opinions. Kirkland being second tier because he only has two losses, is flawed logic. Determining class within boxing is more than just wins and losses (**especially** when that fighter has been critically inactive, which impact their wins and losses. Obviously a fighter that would have lost more had he fought more, his recent wins and losses will appear not so bad if hes inactive, than had he fought 3 times a year and went 1-2 that year) Kirkland had fought twice in the 3.5 years leading into the Canelo fight, wasn't ranked in the top 10 of any division (hell, he wasn't even a top 10 fighter the week after he beat Tapia!), in the 4 years since being KO'd by Ishida had beaten ONE top 10 opponent, and to top it off would be the rightful underdog against 7 of the top 10 jr middles in the world (and that's giving him the benefit of the doubt, Ill cut him slack and say he 'wouldnt' be an underdog against Trout and Smith) with him possibly being the betting favorite over MAYBE one fighter in the entire top 10 of the division.... and you think that's because hes a second tier fighter? The only people in boxing that thinks James Kirkland is a second tier fighter is James Kirkland and Wolfe. And at this stage, I actually think Rubio is a 4th or 5th tier fighter.... your point? I will drop the Kirkland thing but again, it was just the one of many things in your post that is just unhinged altogether, or unhinged because you are consciously or unconsciously trying to spin things ever in Canelos favor. Ill respond to your other post now.
Isal, on a side note, while still related, whats your take on Canelo vs Golovkin? Who will you be picking? How do you see it going? Its one of my most anticipated fights in recent boxing for sure.
