Floyd/Cotto. I've heard enough.

Not sensitive just don't know why you are addressing me with these points. I am fully aware of the factions you are talking about but that has absolutely nothing to do with me or you.

Just as I maybe dissapointed about the threads you will be dissapointed about this fight. Like it or not Mayweather DLH 2 is happening. I would prefer the more credible alternative & also wish DLH would call it a day but it won't happen this year.

I wouldn't mind it so much of the posts held some form of insight but all we get is low brow "Gayrunner is a ***** fighting De La Fishnets etc". Do people actually think they are amusing anyone with these crap nicknames?

 

Okay well I'm bored of this now & have better things to do. You keep having the same repetitive argument if you want to. I shall be avoiding those threads just like the Calzaghe & Hopkins ones in the hope I may find some less fashionable threads I can have some proper discussions in.:good

 

Maybe, I just took expception to the way you appeared to be directing your comments about "nuthuggers, excuse makers etc" at me. The logic was minimal with regards to the reasons why the fight wasn't taking place. I was merely expresssing discontent with the way in which people seem to continually bring up this subject with no rational within their posts.

Baldomir beat the unified, undisputed champion in Judah it was only boxing politics that meant he didn't actually take all three belts. Floyd's campaign at 140 was a bit of a joke but at 130 & 135 I don't think theres much doubt he fought & beat the best. If Spadafora & Dorin hadn't fought to a draw I think Floyd would have given the winner a shot but I don't think they were a serious threat.

I don't think it was ever his intention to remain at 154 but he did beat De La Hoya who, despite the abuse he takes from certain factions, was still a threat to him. If Floyd had remained there & not taken other challenges then I would also be voicing my discontent but he hasn't.

Yeah that crappy "gangsta" style video. I'm a little reluctant to continue with this as this thread was never about being pro or anti anyone it was about the needless abuse aimed at either fighter. You seem keen to draw me on this but as most people will know on this forum I am a boxing fan not a fanboy. If Floyd, Cotto or anyone else gets KO'd this year you will see no emotional reaction from me.

The only man that I would be upset to see beaten up would be Hopkins but I have enough faith in him to be confident that wont happen. Floyd has never really spoken too straight about his next fight so I think people could be reading far too much into what he said in that post fight interview.

So you think fighters owe us do you? They put their lives on the line for our entertainent, however, seeing as you brought up the subject of best against the best do you really see a Cotto/Gomez or even a Cotto/Mayorga fight as an example of that? I have no interest in a second PBF/DLH fight but I see more uncertainty with regards the outcome of that fight than Miguels fights with Gomez or Mayorga.

My point was that in retirement it may not seem like the glaring ommision it is now. You seem hellbent on painting me as some Floyd fanboy. You need to get out of that mentality, read my post history & you will see I'm not one of those people.

Show me a video of Cotto actually saying the words "I want to fight Floyd".

No arguments here although it wouldn't be the first time it would appear from the outside the process for making a fight is overly complicated.

There was a big thread about this the other day & several forum members appeared to claim Cotto was the real champ. If it wasn't for boxing politics Floyd would already be unfied as he would have won all three belts from Baldomir. I agree Floyd hasn't been true champ in every divsion he has fought at & I have never claimed otherwise.

The point is if Gomez pulled off an upset, however unlikely, no one will see Cotto as a glaring ommission from his resume anymore.

Right well I appreciate your response C Money. It's getting a little messy & untidy to quote every paragraph & repsond so I shall refrain in this instance. You don't need to convince me about this fight in that respect you are preaching to the converted, however, I have accepted that the fight is gone for this year just as you have accepted people will post crap about it regardless.

For what it's worth I really wish this obsession with division would stop in general as it creates situations like these. I would be far happier if more champions unified the 3 belts & racked off a few years worth of defences. It's like all the people calling for Pavlik to move up, why? I woud be far happier if he consolidated his position at 160.

I do believe this fight will happen because if enough pressure is put on Floyd his ego will not accept the criticism. Infact the more we speak about it the more excited I am to see it.
