He doesn't have the pure blazing hands of fire speed, boxing technique, ring grace and and composure that Kevin McBride does, buit he's pretty close.
I don't think Floyd has really cherry-picked his opponents. He's a little guy and reached the point where it's time to start fighting for money first. When he fought Judah, Judah was still a top contender. After this, sure, he started fighting for money. Until then, he fought the best that was available. He should be given more credit. After all, he is a little guy.
nobody is saying he aint fast, but when people ask me about speed and fighters of today, i dont mention floyd...i mention zab, sugar, roy, manny etc etc.....floyd has the smarts and he sure as hell knows how to use them, but his speed is good, not great......
I can not be bothered to argue in details nor to show videos etc. But I am pretty confident the guys like Ali, Jones, Leonard, have faster handspeed than Floyd. But Floyd has equally fast feet with those guys when it comes to running around the ring like chickens.
Right. While other punchers may be faster (Gamboa), Floyd's punches get there a hell of a lot quicker because of how short and zip line they are.
He didnt look mad fast against Oscar, or Judah, he looks that fast against a guy like Gatti who stood there and allowed Floyd to get off.
I'd argue that while PBF's hand speed (certainly above 140) isn't as great as some, his technical ability means that his punches get from A to B quicker than most.
