    ?

Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.

    .

Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.

"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."

Ellerbe said Mayweather opted for the buyout so he could be "more in control of when and who he fights next. It's as simple as that. There is nothing bad between Floyd and Bob."

Arum agreed that the split with Mayweather was not on bad terms like their brief breakup last year. In fact, Arum said, "We intend to be back together. Everything with this was honorable and good. I had offered him numbers [for a multi-fight contract extension] that were livable. His expectations are in the stratosphere. He was entitled to buy me out, and he did. We decided this was the best way to handle it. He is a free agent. We have agreed to work with each other [in the future]."

The split frees Mayweather to make a potential deal with De La Hoya without Arum as part of the promotion. His involvement would have made making a deal almost impossible: The head of Top Rank has openly feuded with De La Hoya, his former superstar, and their companies rarely do business together as a result.

Arum said he was simply not interested in participating in a De La Hoya-Mayweather fight, but not because of his distaste for De La Hoya.

"I don't want to, because if I did that fight, I would be working for such a small percentage, it's not worth it," he said.

Now I wish Mayweather would fight: Cotto, Margo, Witter, Cintron.

BUT I can understand Floyd taking $80million for 2 fights with Delahoya and 2 fights with Hatton. What would you do? Fight 4 fights for $80m or fight 4 fights for $20m?

Thing is though Freddy is that I think most would agree that Arum had alot to do with both Oscar and Floyd rising to the top but they both obviously felt they would be better off without him and from what I see I think they were right.

it's true, around that time floyd wouldn't of gotten 20 ****EN MILLION......BULL****

FLOYD'S BEEN WANTING OSCAR SINCE FLOYD WAS AT 135-140...BACK THEN, FLOYD WOULD'VE BEEN LUCKY TO GET 5 MILLION.....IT WASN'T UNTIL FLOYD STARTED CREATING A NAME FOR HIMSELF (OUTSIDE THE RING) THAT OSCAR WANTED THE OPPORTUNITY TO KICK HIS ASS......WHAT MOTIVATES OSCAR THE MOST...LOUD MOUTH ASS MUTHER****ERS...AND FLOYD DID A HELL OF A JOB GETTING HIM IN THE RING.....

BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY, THAT STILL DONT CHANGE THE FACT THAT WHAT ARUM SAID IS TRUE.....BACK THEN FLOYD WOULDN'T OF GOTTEN 20MIL DOLLARS.....ESPECIALLY WHEN NOBODY EVEN KNEW FLOYD :deal

of course they were, after pimping boxing and arum who wouldn't be right :huh :huh :huh

arum hand picked alot of opponents for them to make them look untouchable....oscar's looks and willing to fight anybody made him who he is.....

floyd's loud mouth and oscar made him who he is....

That was in April!!! Oscar was getting ready to fight Mayorga....

By January Floyd had secured a 20 million dollar purse to fight DLH!!!

Soooooooo!!! Arum did not want to do business with Golden Boy because he knew he would get no money! Your a promoter your job is to make the fight happen at the most lucrative amount for your fighter!!!! But Arum only cares about himself making money... He says it in the article

    Floyd did that...

maybe the article was, but when floyd wanted all those options, it was in 2006....when winky wright was walking out of his fights.....remember, when floyd was having trouble filling 5k seats........remember, when they were giving away free tickets....REMEMBER :good

Floyd and DLH aren't ruining boxing!!! Promoters like Arum and King are!!!

They are world renown for raping fighters out of their money...

I guarantee you that what happened with DLH vs PBF and the issues Arum had with that... Is happening with PBF vs. Cotto... Arum knows that PBF is going to stipulate that Arum does not get a significant cut..
