i didnt even know who margo was at the time...

in retro spect its easy to say all that because we know what happened behind the scenes...

but going into that fight i really cant see that many people dying to see floyd fight margo... it's probably the equivalent of people wanting paul williams to fight dzinzurik.... there was probalby some demand for it but over all people are pushing for that winky match up... just like margo at the time dzinzurik is some small blip on the radar like margartio was at the time and the fighter being discussed is trying to make bigger steps for the future

Did you follow boxing closely at the time...???

Margo was WBO WW champ for 7 years until he met his daddy Paul Williams.

That was the fight the boxing world wanted Floyd to take.

I still purchased Floyd vs. Baldo PPV, because Floyd promised he would go for the KO...we all know how hard he tried for that though...

There is no reason you shouldn't have been aware of MArgo

If PBf fights and beats Margarito his legacy at 47 would be more than intact. So far he'd beaten Baldomir, Judah and Hatton at 147. None of them are current title holders, neither had a strong title reign and neither are making serious noise at 147. Floyd is a fraud at welterweight.

Accomplished by what?Beating the most inconsistent fighter in the last few years?
You can make a case for the fight just because of the linear title but even so it's one of the most weakest champions in history.

I have to disagree with your opinio0n which is exactly that.Baldomir and Margarito were on the same level of ''being known'' if not Margarito being more well known than him.

The entire boxing world wanted him to fight a real champion, according to many he fought a paper champion in Gatti at 140 and couldn't make the fight with the lineal champion Hatton so they wanted something different at Welterweight. Who held the lineal title?, Baldomir and Margarito was nothing but a paper champion at the time who's biggest win was Kermit Cintron and Manuel Gomez.

You were around at the time so I'm sure you remember this, when Floyd was rumored to fight Spinks at 154 people blamed him for running scared from a true welterweight and real champion in Baldomir, THAT'S the fight the majority claimed Floyd SHOULD take to prove he's serious. :deal

Now that it's done with the fight was worthless and meant nothing, pretty typical as was the Vivian Harris hype at 140.

Well I don't know what boxrec tells you but anybody who watches boxing knows some names.Martinez,Daniel Santos(twice),Lewis and Cintron,Diaz were as good as Baldomir's resume but you can't know that can you?

ESB has more boxing accountants than boxing fans.

True fans know Margarito and Cotto are better fights for Floyd than Hatton or Pac, but the accountants will say its okay if he cherry picks the latter two as he wouldnt make as many millions fighting a legit challenge as he would fighting Hatton again or Pacquiao...

It would have made Margarito more millions, double the amount to be exact, fighting a guy who beat him than Mosley. What happened there?

Cotto?, are you ****ing serious? :patsch

GaTTI was known at 135. Zab was known at 140. Both made temporary moves to 147. Where are they now. They cannot compete at the elite level at welterweight. PBF is a fraud at WW

On that Video he said him and Margarito will happen but if we never see this fight with both men in their prime then we just know that Floyd was just praying and hoping that Margarito would get de-railed on the way or took enough punishment so that it would make his job alot easier. He took on a shot worn Gatti and a robotic Baldomir and an Irratic , zero focused Judah and a part time Oscar, and this guy still wonders why he isn't getting the respect he deserves or why boxing critics always have something to say about him. He Ducked Margarito plain and simple and he used the Smart businessman line as an excuse because he knew that if he had of lost to Margarito, then he would never be able to call the shots again in the same way. Floyd Fans seem to think he is invincible and as hard as it might be to beat him, the guys who have a better chance to beat him will never get a shot at fighting him, due to Floyd totally dismissing any real contender and playing it safety first, I mean look at the way he fights, the same way he fights is the same way he thinks, safety first, this is the way I see it. He will NEVER take a risk.
