He did start cherry picking at 140, but not because he was avoiding certain fighters, but because he was trying to get the biggest money fights. People seem to forget Arum and Mayweather were also enthralled in a lawsuit during this time where Mayweather was sueing Arum for money he believed was owed to him for previous fights. He bought out of his contract in 2006 with Arum, so fights with Cotto and Margarito were obviously going to be extremely difficult to make, just as we saw the Pac fight fell apart over the two trying to flex their muscles. No offence to Tony, but when you've got to laugh you've got to laugh so:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl you know diiiiiiiiiiis:rofl
Monzons movement would cause Toney a few problems, but Toney would counter Monzons jab with the right very effectively, which could well take Monzons best weapon. I think Toney would land the cleaner work and have more success
I'm not ruling it out. But i do think that Monzon's jab would be a more effective weapon than you do. If Monzon's able to step around then as the fight progresses it would make for more of the jab landing i'd say. I don't think it's a lock for Monzon because Toney was such a high level operator just within his own style. He'll counter a man standing in front of him all day, because of how good his defence is, it makes him formidabble. But Monzon dictating distance and pace is a different proposition and just doesn't play into other peoples hands. That's my take on iy anyway.
For years i've always said the same about Floyd. He proved he was somewhat of a great fighter to me at 130, and everyone gets on his case about him doing **** now. That resume at 130 pounds is underrated of his, i'm not saying he fought in a golden era, but it was good and he emerged the best. If he would have added Casamayor or Freitas then it would be very nice. You've got to remember that these guys he beat were the top guys at the time in his division. Even Corrales gets seen as a **** win now. Just because it's a good style match up for Floyd doesn't mean we should write it off, Corrales had a good career. The Castillo win is also very very good. Having said that i've got to say that he's even pissed me off now. Some of the recent **** has been downright gay. And saying he's better than all these great fighters of the past has just made me dislike him. And this Martin Luther King stuff is hilarious. He doesn't have a tremendous resume in the grand scheme of things so he should stop embarrassing himself.
I think people hate Floyd because his teeth are white. I know it sounds stupid, but not as stupid as PowerPuncher's theory that people hate Floyd because he's black. I think that says more about PowerPuncher actually.
I didn't read that Powerpuncher said that. I don't agree with him, it's gay. But i have got to say that i do think there's a lot of racial motives when it comes to boxing fans. It really really really winds me up when it seems my black mates want the black guy to win and my white mates want the white guy to win. There's only a few of us left who just want to see a good boxing match.
Yeah I did. I'm not going to jump the gun because I'm beginning to re-question my thought. Checked his history and seems to be fairly knowledgeable. This guy I was referring to sounds a bit like him but is a complete and utter tool. Basically a guy making tons of redundant posts on my youtube account.
True, many support fighters along racial lines. But Floyd could have been white with pink polka dots and people still would have hated him just as much for being a douche in all the ways he is.
Yeah i've never minded him because i didn't take him seriously. But just recently with the talk of being better than Robinson, well that's just one thing i can't handle.
