I dont remember Castillo using his, he was stalking and tried to cut off the ring, it worked ones, but he couldnt do the same again. Not too many fighters try to box Floyd, and I dont see Diaz doing it either, but he will not just walk in there or try to chase around the ring for Mayweather, he will step in his jab and get in to use his combinations. Diaz doesnt throw those shots with full power, similarly to Castillo, thus he stays in balance, however, he also throws alot more punches than Castillo and has faster hands than him. Ultimately, what I see happening is Floyd trying to stay on the outside to pick his pop shots and win the fight throwing one-two punches at a time, while throwing occasional combos, but Diaz will use his own jab and move closer to Floyd to throw his own combinations and apply relentless pressure every minute of every round; not all punches will land, but some will, and its gonna keep Floyd on his toes and frustrated through 12 rounds.
Genaro Hernandez, Judah, Delahoya were also great fighters that Mayweather beat, but none possed relentless pressure and focus that Diaz brings....at least at the time that Floyd fought them. Diaz is a unified lighthweight champion at 24 years of age. He has never came close to loosing at this weight, while Mayweather has. At 135 lb yes its possible that Diaz could be better, he hasnt realized his full potential yet and already has 3 belts.
I have to agree with Swee Pea here. Castillo pressured Floyd, sure, but watch the two fights, guys. He boxed him as well. Castillo timed his rushes and threw rehearshed combinations. He figured something out, because Floyd never gets caught with left hooks like Castillo did in their fights. He timed them perfectly. Mayweather-Castillo 1 is the closest a fighter has come to beaten Floyd. Castillo couldnt have fought much better. Floyd changed his game in their rematch, yes, but Castillo also performed to a lesser extent than his first effort. Floyd is also not a boxer purely at 135, he was a boxer puncher. @130 and 135, Mayweather could hit, y'all. Thats where most his KO's come from. He threw tremendous combinations from the outside(I would argue better than Diaz) and at times flattened his opposition with his deceptive and well-timed hooks and straights(see Corrales and Arroyo fights for the best example of Mayweather ****ing people up). You CANNOT charge Mayweather the way Diaz charges folks. Julio Diaz was tagging Juan, but lacked the fortitude or the power to really do anything. Popo also landed some great rights early on. Floyd hits a charging Diaz with a right, then a left hook, theh a right, then a left hook, circles and scores with one of the above punches again. On the outside, as Juan resets, Floyd uses the jab he still used at 135 to poke away and set up a right or a lead left hook, Juan charges, Floyd nails him again and again. There is no inside on Mayweather; He gets out to fast, and he blocks EVERYTHING when you get him in there. Floyd TKO 10, after beating Juan ******ed. You would see some punches landed on the Baby Bull in this fight, friends. Kids too green, he's not good enough. I might have a different answer in 2 years, but I doubt it. hate him or love him, Mayweather is an absolute beast, all-time, at the lighter weights.
What you fail to realize is that Diaz doesn't have enough power to hurt PBF at 135 and get his respect. He won't wear down PBF like he did Diaz and Frietas. PBF is the bigger and stronger man with good pop at 135 he would bang with Diaz when needed but would simply outbox him with his superior footwork and counter-punching. PBF by UD:deal
even though Floyd went life and death against Castillo, he would still beat Diaz by UD, no doubt! Prime Castillo would **** the **** out of Diaz.
Floyd wins this fight. People forget how good he was at 135lbs. If this was a 147lb or 154lb Diaz, we are talking about a close fight and a pickem fight.
