Its all about who will generate the most cash with minimum risk for Floyd. As you say, Garcia and Bradley would have serious problems getting close enough and would suffer the same fate as Canelo. May as well take Pac out of the mix as it aint happening and personally bored to the point that I dont actually have any interest any more. I wouldnt throw out the possibility of Rios either if he shocks Pac. If Bradley beats JMM and entertains, its a credible opponent on paper, Beat JMM, Devon and Pac (on paper) plus undefeated. No point of JMM rematch if Marquez takes this, which I feel he will. The winner of Devon/Khan definite possibility, a Khan victory would generate the most cash, especially if in the UK, where you could pack out 60k capacity stadium. Khan could potentially cause the most problems for Floyd, simply as he takes away Money speed advantages but not clever enough for money to use his speed and reach advantages effectively. Personally I think he will go Bradley if he beats JMM convincingly, and if they can sell it to the networks. If not, Khan providing he beats Devon, if neither of those materialise, Rios if he beats Pacman, last but not least if all of the above fail Garcia. The rest aint worth mentioning as zero interest other than potentially Broner, but feel that this would be another walk in the park. And trust me Floyd wont be fighting GGG or Martinez either, unless they agreed to drain down to 154 or even 152 or perhaps 151/150/147
Agree...........Mayweather has screwed the pooch on any future BIG PPV events. The "One" is now "Done".........for good. JET
1st choice - pacquiao if he beats rios - great fighter, worth a ton of money the hype would be amazing! and its the fight we all still want to see 2nd - danny garcia - after his win over matthyse he proved to me he is a true champion and the true king of the 140 division, if he fights mayweather i see him losing but hell HE EARNT THE SHOT 3rd - khan/prescot winner - honestly this fight is not so legacy boosting for mayweather but if its against khan its going to be worth alot of money and mayweather always said hed love to fight in the UK. if you notice all these fighters will be around mayweathers weight which is what I WANT TO SEE. people complain he is boring wont go for the knockout etc etc, the guy is outweighed by much larger opponents because he is boosting his legacy fighting outside his natural weightclass, i want to see him dish out some punishment to young stars like khan or garcia. the pacquiao fight is still the biggest to be made
I would love to see him "fight" Paul, I just have serious doubts it will happen. As a matter of fact, I would love to see Floyd "fight" anyone. The last time a boxer irked me so much his name was Ray Leonard.
You guys should know by now that any fighter that has anything to do with top rank WILL NOT be fighting mayweather. Mayweather and Bob Arum dont like to do business together and it will be a nightmare trying to get it to work. Thats why the Pacquiao fight didnt happen. In any case i think Garcia or khan-alexander winner would be a good fight
Floyd would sell out any stadium in the UK no matter who he fought, we would just be happy to have a megastar fight over here, it doesnt have to be Amir, most brits dont like Khan
You know its interesting, Floyd was lineal/ring champ at 130-135-147-154. He grabbed a belt at 140 but was never recognized as the true champ. He probably could still make 140. Could they use that as a building point to fight Garcia at 140? I doubt that Floyd would want to go lower than 147. That looks to be his optimal weight and if Garcia is the chosen one he would have no objection to the fight at 147.
Obviously guys like Martinez, Pacquaio, and Bradley are going to be some of the fights people most want to see for Mayweather but those fights aren't going to happen. I think of the fights that could happen I'd put them in order of most likely as: Garcia-he's the clear top guy at 140, is with GBP,and fought on the undercard Saturday so he has to be a frontrunner. Mayweather isn't fighting until May and Garcia is suppose to make his move to welterweight before then. So if Garcia beats a solid welterweight in his next fight this is a semi-interesting fight and probably outdoes the Mayweather-Guerrero fight financially. Khan-If Khan beats Alexander than I wouldn't be shocked to see it happen. Khan has been on HBO/Showtime plenty of times, will have a 147 belt, and has a big following in Britain. The overseas money has to make him attractive to Mayweather even though Khan has no chance to beat him. 3 Cotto- The first fight did big business, Cotto held his own(I don't think he came anywhere near beating Mayweather but he did fine) and Cotto is still a star on his own. I think Cotto is being moved to a Martinez fight instead but I think his he's on HBO on a fight by fight basis so he coud jump over to Showtime for a Mayweather rematch. Alvarez could end up in a rematch a few fights down the line but he needs to win a few fights to re-build the interest. Broner could be a very big fight but its a bit too soon both in and out of the ring for this fight. If Broner strings a few good wins together at 147 than a Mayweather-Broner fight could be a really big fight next year. Thurman is in a similar situation to Broner, he needs to gain more credibilty and increase his drawing power. If he has a big 2014 than a Mayweather-Thurman fight could be big in 2015 if Mayweather's still fighting. I'm don't think we see Mayweather face guys like Guerrero or Ortiz again or guys like Maidana, Trout, Lara, or Alexander(he could be a long shot I guess).
at least we have a date now im obsessed with knowing who it will be against. still think because its the weekend of Cinco de Mayo itll be ANGULO, Floyd loves nothing better than beating up Mexicans especially around Cinco de Mayo
Damm I voted wrong. I thought it was asking who Floyd would fight next and not who you want to see him fight next. Of course Pac.
The only Mayweather fight I'll pay for is against Pac (if he still looks good). I bought the Mayweather/ Canelo fight at least thinking Canelo is big, strong, and goes to the body... What I got was 5 or 6 rounds of Canelo moving his head, never hurt, but yet to dumb to push Floyd to the ropes at least and beat that body. I doubted he would actually beat Mayweather but payed for a competitive fight. Any 154 pounder could have did as good/ better than Canelo (Trout, lara, even Angulo lol). Most guys out there around 140-147 really lack something to beat Mayweather. Khan has the obvious hand speed, but doesn't have the ring IQ or chin (he gets knocked out by a nice Mayweather right hand). If Garcia would have knocked out Matthsse (not low blow, and constantly clinch to a boring close UD) I would have found interest in him. Bradley has the skill, speed, chin, but not enough power. Pac is really the only one, except if Mayweather fights somebody mcuh bigger (like a Martinez who is on his last leg though or GGG) that has a chance. Pac is southpaw, has the hand speed to hit him, has the chin to take his punches, has the foot speed to catch up with him, has the endless stamina to stick with him 12 rounds. Not saying he even wins, depends what he looks like.... but only fight I'll pay for. Rest of them I'll watch the following saturday on Showtime.
