Even if you scored it to Alexander, no matter how you look at it he went down to the wire with (and many thought he lost to) a guy that Khan did an absolute number on. Mayweather vs Alexander is not only a joke, it is as an absolute nailed-down guaranteed boring, ****, predictable fight.
Its not ducking if he decides not to fight Euro level fighter in Brook and instead fights Mayweather.
Floyd fighting anyone is going to do 1M at this point. Floyd will do his usual shtick on 24/7. HBO will show a replay of Mayweather/Cotto. People will pay to see him fight. He is an enormous draw.
Devon holds a belt and its a unification fight. Its better than Malignaggi and Guerrero I dont see what the fuss is all about.
and Khan went life and death with a guy Devon frustrated and dominated(albeit in ugly clinch filled fashion) Triangle theory doesn't work.
Im on the fence i see it as a tune up and a tune up vs a good fighter however this may be floyds lone fight all yr and that would be a let down Alexander has all the right physical tools to win but i doubt he can get his head together to do it also we dont know what Floyds body can do, he is off a big lay off is on the other side of 35 and had vulnerabilities in his last fight Alexander is way faster than Cotto and may be able to get gloves on Floyd early that said the intrigue for me is based on the possibility of Floyd slowing down and maybe Alexander finally piecing together the great performance that has eluded him I mean last summer Pac came in lack luster and Bradley came in hungry and someone came home very shocked
I'm not sure how Alexander matches up as well as Guerrero or better. :think Both are southpaws. So that "advantage" cancels out. (and IMO it's a myth that southpaws are inherently predisposed to give Mayweather any more difficulty than usual...the couple who've bothered him, it was down to styles) Height and reach? Dead even. Form at welterweight? As I see it Guerrero has looked far better against superior opposition. Aydin & Berto > Maidana & Bailey...and Guerrero didn't run even though both can whack. The roughest nights of Guerrero's life came against Cino Yordan, Siri Salido and Platano Diaz. Aggressive pressure specialists. Nothing at all like Mayweather. Alexander's biggest struggles were against Matthysse, Kotelnik, and Bradley. Granted the Argentine assassin isn't much like PBF, but Kotelnik is in the same mold as a counter-punching technician who emphasized accuracy (though he lacks Mayweather's slickness) and Bradley with his sound defense moving in and out and his right hand leads probably laid the stylistic blueprint for the faster, stronger, and smarter Mayweather to beat Alexander even more clearly than he did...and with fewer headbutts. Mayweather is big enough to shrug off Devon's clinches, and even at this age I believe he possesses more hand speed in both single and combo punches. I really don't see how Devon gets much of a share on the cards, and even if he plants one of his uppercuts to the flat of the digastricus while Mayweather is leaning over I don't see it devastating Mayweather or even necessarily dropping him. At worst, sending him into a tailspin from which he'll immediately recover by either tying up or firing off a quick deterrent counter. If Floyd does fall prey to such a mistake being exploited, it'll only happen the once. Guerrero has the less magazine-ready somatotype but is physically stronger than Devon, so he'd be more likely to rag-doll Mayweather and force the sort of ugly brawl that might give him a headache. Alexander would be unsuccessful from the outset with such tactics were he to even bother trying, and so he'd be left with the option of trying to outbox Mayweather which he simply cannot do.
you are such a little worm... a gay little worm... a gay little worm living inside floyds ass... a gay little worm living inside floyds ass and eating his ****... yeah, thats it.
That's not really my point. I'm saying Alexander has not showed anything that indicates he would be a threat to Mayweather in the ring. He has looked, let's be honest, **** in all his highest profile fights.
Some of you posters really underestimate the intelligence of Mexicans lol. No one is paying 60-70 bucks to see Canelo beat up on a can...Especially since he isn't starching them out with one punch.
anyone who believes that Alexander deserves a shot against Mayweather needs to rewatch the Bradley fight. not only was he completely outclassed in the fight itself, but he complained and bitched his way out of the fight just to get decision loss that him and his corner had to have known that they would get. remember when he bitched to the doctor about his eye hurting, couldnt see and couldnt open his eyes? there was nothing wrong with that *******. he was walking around and talking to all of his people right after the fight was called off.
What qualities has Canelo shown? He's been fighting blown up lightweights. What qualities has Guerrero shown? He fought AYDIN/Berto!
