Floyd’s regular style was to ‘pot shot’ slower, lesser fighters.

Again, for the majority of his fights at WW-JMW, he was a safety first fighter with hand issues.

Why do you keep ignoring this??

Floyd couldn’t have employed those same tactics against Hearns. And the more he’d have opened up, the more vulnerable he’d have been to Hearns’ arsenal of shots from a huge reach.

Hearns fought GREAT fighters who had GREAT technical skills, and who were of a SIMILAR size, as well as guys who were BIGGER than what Floyd is.

Even though nobody possessed the EXACT same attributes as Floyd, they shared SIMILARITIES.

Wilfredo Benitez shared SIMILARITIES with Floyd.

Benitez, Leonard and Duran were all ATG’s who were extremely skilled technically.

Hearns fought guys who were on Floyd’s level.

Floyd never fought anybody who was on Hearns’ level.

Floyd never fought anybody who even resembled Hearns.

    Those 'lesser fighters' included :

Slower, lesser fighters that happened to include Miguel Cotto, Manny Pacquiao, Shane Mosely, Saul Alvarez, among others, basically just every top WW of his era......

They were all lesser fighters than a PRIME version of Thomas Hearns.

    Why can’t you process this?

    Miguel Cotto:

Had been bashed up by Marg and Manny.

Floyd had advantages in speed and reach.

    Canelo:

Great fighter, but young, little huge fight experience, and made to fight at a 152 C-W.

Floyd had advantages in reach and speed.

    Shane Mosley:

Faded, nearing the end of his career. Could only manage a draw with Mora afterwards.

Floyd had advantages in reach and speed.

    Manny Pacquiao:

Faded and coming off of a devastating loss to Marquez.

Had an injured shoulder, was denied a pain killing injection and had to have surgery the following week.

Floyd had a huge reach advantage and was caught taking PEDS.

None of those guys were at their best.

Floyd had significant advantages over all of them.

They were simply incomparable to prime versions of Hearns at WW and JMW.

Floyd had no significant advantages over Thomas Hearns.

    Hearns was significantly taller.

    He had a huge reach.

    He had huge power.

    He had a great jab.

    Great footwork.

    Great timing.

    Great accuracy.

    Great overall technical skills.

    Huge confidence.

    An Everest for Floyd.

So your saying the fighters I listed were not better than ODH ( Past prime about 6-7 yrs by the time he faced May) Judah ( Who was on the downside of his career) Corrales ( Didn't think he fought at welterweight, maybe you know something the world doesn't. ) Castillo ( Funny, I thought they fought at light, again, maybe you know something the world doesn't) Hatton ( a good fighter, not better than ANYONE I listed) Baldomir ( Tough guy, not talented tailor made for May also not better than anyone I listed) Cotto , ( very good fighter at his best, but he clearly wasn't his best when he fought May, very doubtful at the time he fought him, he'd beat anyone I listed) JMM ( His best fights were at Jr. Lightweight, smallish at welterweight a money grab when he fought him, a safe fight for May) Alvarez, ( My opinion, another fighter that's smoke and mirrors, nothing special about him, funny thing is, he hasn't fought some of the better talent around his weight class, taking a tip from May?)
Other than Alvarez, any of those fighters are better than the ones I listed?
Does Conor McGregor deserve a bigger payday than Spence , Thurman or any of the others I pointed out to you?

None of the names you mentioned are anywhere near as dangerous as Hearns.

You are also delusional if you believe that Mayweather didn't avoid Pac just as much as vice versa or that Mayweather also wasn't on PEDs.

Exactly , in all fairness, 2 big egos by both killed the fight , it was for 2010 ... May had the stylistic advantage and reflexes over Pac, but Pac had that high work rate and lightening fast combos .. It was the biggest fight since Sept 16, 1981 .... what a shame missed the best

You could definitely make an argument that some of his opponents were better than Floyd.

And still no one has addressed the fact that Mayweather Jr PREFERS a slower paced fight. The Hearns- Benitez fight was fought at just the pace Mayweather usually fights at, and Tommy had no trouble going the full 15 rounds.

    That’s right.

    Hearns wouldn’t have gassed.
