I don't think the author of this thread is more biased than the author of this article from main page.

    I tell you what.

Lets see how the Hatton fight pans out before we feed him to Lamotta.

Mayweather would do very well in any era but I think beating Robinson is a stretch.

Mayweather would be lucky to go the distance with Robinson, let alone win.

Mayweather would lose to Robinson, but he'd beat Lamotta. In general like most sports boxing has moved on and the standards are getting better all the time - although the current crop of heavies are useless but heavyweights always tend to be.

In general modern fighters would out class the old guys, but fighters like Armstrong, Pep & Robinson would do just fine.

Oh NOOOOOOOO! The children have invaded the classic section: you ought to see what they're posting in the general forum. There are actually threads about PBF fighting Pavlik and Calzaghe AND WINNING!!!!!:rofl

But, to the subject at hand:

There are at least three welters Floyd would have absolutley no chance against. Robinson, Hearns, and Lenoard. And I shouldn't even have to explain my reasoning.

PBF would have two chances against LaMotta; slim and none, and slim says he ain't comin' to the fight. PBF vs Jake Lamotta, WTF:nut . Floyd's grandchildren would be born pissing blood.

    Funny opening line.

LaMotta would annihiliate Mayweather. Robinson could beat him sitting on his couch at 147.

They don't refer to Sugar Ray Robinson as the Greatest Fighter Pound For Pound for nothing. Robinson would not pattycake around with Floydie, but turn slugger suddenly at one point and do to him basically what Marlon Starling did to Mark Breland, and show him the differnce between the men and the boys. Robinson was a Man, Mayweather is a boy. Sugar Ray would treat him in a most disrespectful way, and introduce him to the rough, unedited side of boxing. Robinson-KO 8-Mayweather. The writer of this thread probably likes pro wrestling, and knows nothing about Robinson, or LaMotta for that matter.

Robinson is consisdered by almost everyone to be the greatest fighter of all time. Mayweather while very good and maybe great does not have the credentials to be mentioned on the level with Robinson.

If mayweather beats Hatton then he may have proved himself suitable for a joust with Jake La Motta. I just don't see Floyd lasting 15 against the Bronx Bull under 1940's rules.

I'm not denying that they were fantastic champions of their time, I'm simply saying that like if you put Manchester United of today on a pitch with their 1940s English league champion counterparts, Manchester United would win. It's the evolution of the sport. There's no denying champions of any area are great.

Sugar Ray Robinson has a glittering resume - he was the bes tin the world at a huge number of different weights.

BUT THE FACT IS IF YOU PUT HIM IN THE RING WITH THE SLICKSTER FLOYD MAYWEATHER NOW, IT'S AN EASY POINTS VICTORY FOR FLOYD.

Floyd is right when he says he is a great, you numbskulls just don't know it yet. If he defended his titles against an extra 100 bums at village fétés in between his big fights, he'd be considered one of the best of all time.
