Floyd is washed up. Nobody cares about him anymore. if he ever fights again which will only be when he goes broke he won't touch the numers he once did. Manny will shatter all records in Novemember while Floyd sits in jail or does community service and he is too in his own world to even realize Oscar made him famous and Manny is more famous and popular than he is now and ever was.

 

it's more of noteriety now rather than outright popularity... but i guess the negative publicity he's currently getting still leaves him in the limelight even if he's supposedly on "vacation". people do like controversy but too much of it eventually makes one look like a clown just like those now ridiculed hollywood celebrities, e.g. mel gibson who coincidentally is also known for making racist remarks...

 

Floyd needs an outrageous persona because (for the most part) his fights are boring. First and foremost, Tyson demolished people. That began his popularity. Eating children came later. Oscar, for all his female fans, loved a tear up. He was a FIGHTER. Floyd is a pure boxer. He needs something else to put arses on seats because he's a safety first, unexciting boxer.

The nice guy Floyd just wouldn't break PPV records.
