He was considered high risk low reward to guys like Oscar, Mosley and others back then. Only when he became a cash cow and the face of the sport did guys line up and want to fight him. Are you suggesting Oscar or Shane actively ducked Floyd "back then"? :huh The only time I remember either of those fights being plausible, was around 1999 (give or take) when Floyd was the 130 pound champion and Shane was the 135 pound champion. But Shane was angling for the cash cow, who at the time was De La Hoya - a fight he landed and won.
They didn't want to face PBF back then. He was too high risk too low reward they knew how good he was. Prince Nas ducked him as well and so did Frietas.
I'm still not following the sense in what you're saying. The closest Floyd and Shane ever were to being in the same weight class was when Shane was the lightweight champion and Floyd was the junior light weight champion. At that time, DLH was already a welter. Shane was gunning for the DLH fight at welterweight. My point - was Floyd ever even in the same weight class as Shane or Oscar? And if he wasn't, how can you make the claim that he was "too high risk too low reward"? He wasn't even in the same weight class, and was 3 removed from Oscar. :smoke
They ignored PBF who called them both out many times back when he was at 130 and 135. They were both clearly aware of him but chose not to fight him because he was seen as too high risk too little reward.
You're pushing the agenda pretty far on this one. If Floyd wanted a shot at one of those guys back then, he should have moved up. My point stands - and since you haven't addressed it I assume you concede my point - Floyd was never in the same weight class as Shane and especially Oscar "back then". :smoke
