    I don't wish to interrupt , just one point you mentioned that Sharkey got straight up after being dropped by McCoy, Floyd usually emulated that feat. If Sonny Liston hit a charging Sharkey flush ,he aint getting up.

    I'd put my last dollar on Sharkey being able to last longer, put up a better fight and take more from Liston than Floyd ever did.

    I think I'm entitled to request evidence of these inaccuracies,if I made the charge I would be prepared to back it.

    NB if you found "a couple ",in nearly 19,000 posts I don't think thats a bad average and probably compares favourably with most.

    You will note that when a mistake is made by me ,I always acknowledge it.
    How did Jack Johnson get in here?:huh

    :lol::D:rofl
    I had to smile when I saw the title of the recent Tom Sharkey bio,
    "I Fought Them All" it should have had the rider," Unless They Were Black".

    Would you put your last dollar on the then 156lbs McCoy,[ 17lbs lighter than Sharkey, ] dropping Patterson?

    McCoy was 4 lbs inside today's middle weight limit for that fight.

    "In 1898, The Milwaukee Journal said that while Sharkey “has shown himself to be a rough and tumble fighter of ability ... if he hopes to get on he certainly must change the foul methods which have characterized his work in all of his fights. It is very probable that he will never be able to fight strictly within the Marquis of Queensbury rules, and he is likely to lose important battles through his foul tactics.”

    That he has the power to do so if he tagged Patterson? Yes. Would the blows that floored Sharkey floor Patterson? Yes, perhaps even knock him out. But Floyd would KO McCoy before that could happen.

    You yourself admitted that you've never studied a boxer's career in depth. If you ever do, be sure to look a bit deeper into this (as well as the rest of McCoy's career).

    I read that yesterday.Sharkey was comparatively light for him , but he still had 17lbs on McCoy.

    Who's really to say but it is not out of the realm of possibility for Sharkey to do as well or better than Bonavena or Chuvalo did w Floyd ..

    No it isnt, but would you call Floyd prime in the Bonavena match ?

    Floyd was 30 when he unanimously decisioned Chuvalo, the same age as Sharkey was when he retired,and 37 for the Bonavena fight.
