I know that these fighters are trained by the same trainer, the legendary Cus D'mamato, but I think Mike Tyson is superior to Floyd Patterson (by a thin margin). What are the differences between the two fighters?

Tyson had power, chin, and was a natural heavyweight. Neither of these 3 things did Patterson have at the heavyweight level.
very true the problem is though tyson's chin is not extraordinary either, of course his chin is much better compared to Floyd Patterson's chin. I think Floyd's heart is better then Tyson's too. hand speed and head movement would be even IMO, and Tyson hits harder. Tyson's explosiveness and work rate is not consistent. There's no way he can bob and weave for 15 rounds, meanwhile Floyd's style is consistent. Floyd would've been AMAZING at crusierweight. Imagine Floyd fighting Evander Holyfield or Micheal Spinks at Cruiser; Those would be great fights.
Tyson was bigger, stronger, better two fisted power, and above all..... had a light years better chin.
The only way Floyd EVER EVER beats Tyson, is if Mike was paid off to throw the fight. Tyson smokes Patterson 100 outta 100 times.
... or if it goes into the later rounds. This would be a funny fight IMO because neither of them like the inside very much. they like to explode at mid range and then hold. this would be a fast fight to be honest either of them would win. I am positive Mike would Blow away Floyd with any of his punches, and I'm also sure that Floyd would floor Mike with a whistling left hook.
Well Tyson was more accustomed to fighting taller fighters so Floyd would give him problems but a focused Tyson beats Patterson by Ko in the 9th or 10th round. Don't ask why so late.
Agreed. This is one of those matches were it is BEYOND clear cut. Tyson is one of the hardest hitting HW champs, Patterson has one of the - if not THE - shakiest chins.
Patterson, as much as I like the guy, was a poor-man's Tyson. Tyson is better at the style, has more power, a better chin, etc.. Head to head, I can't ever see Patterson beating Tyson. Tyson would absolutely be Patterson's worst nightmare. Next to Sonny Liston.
