You can see the similarities here in another Cus D'Amato trainer fighter Jose Torres: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6XnKHKAquQ[/ame] Funny how the referee pushes Torres off as he's unloading combinations on Andrews at the end. Torres was clearly not a "finished product" at this point in his career.
great vid floyd's gotta be one of my all time favorite fighters what a champ. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-alTJ90K8o[/ame] A modest guy, certainly one of the fastest heavyweights ever.
Patterson was a great guy and a real overachiever but I think he'd only barely crack the top-10 today as a heavy. As a cruiser, though, he'd reign for as long as he chose. London on the other hand may not crack the top-100 in either division.
That will be your little secret. If cruiserweights Admsak and Haye can crack the top 5, patterson can too. Patterson would knock both of them out.
That was just my way of saying hello to you. Honestly, I think far too much credit is given to whole Cus bob&weave school, or even the Dempsey version. It has never promoted longevity for a fighter's career, can be construed as a large waste of energy and isn't all that hard to time for the right opponent. It does look pretty on film when properly executed, though. And that's why I think many get a little too impressed with it.
Charles and Moore look really shot here: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2PutDflPYo[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7qFsEmK1gE[/ame] Nearly 20. Torres and Tyson didn't have the longevity, but that has more to do with their mentality than anything else.
