This won't come down to physical attributes. Both guys are way too good. We're used to seeing them fight guys at least a few levels below them. It will be totally different when they face a fighter with comparable skill/experience levels.

It's gonna come down to a few factors:

1. Level of shot-ness. Both guys have been gameplanning and visualizing this fight for at least 8 years. They will be at the absolute peak of their potential on fight night. Neither guy is going to have an off night or be under-prepared. If Floyd comes in BETTER than he has recently and Pac comes in the same, Floyd should outclass him. This would involve Floyd employing a TON of ring movement for the entire fight, which we haven't seen in years. If Pac comes in BETTER than we've seen him recently and Floyd comes in the same, Pac will steamroll him. This would involve a constant attack and a lot of dynamic footwork for 12 full rounds, which we haven't seen in years. If BOTH guys come in better or the same, then it goes to the next aspect...

2. Game Plan. If Floyd tries to figure it out on the fly like he usually does, he will lose. People don't seem to understand that MARCOS MAIDANA won at least 5 rounds off of him. Guerrero won a handful. Ortiz wasn't looking too bad. Hatton had some rounds. De la Hoya won at least half the fight. Pacquiao is not those guys. He's MUCH better and MUCH more athletic. If Floyd gives him rounds, Pacquiao will take them, and there is no way Floyd will dominate so much that Pacquiao won't pick up some rounds that Floyd doesn't intentionally hand him.

Awkward fighters cause Floyd problems and take time to figure out. Manny is extremely awkward. Southpaws cause Floyd problems. Manny is a southpaw. Floyd likes a slow pace. Manny fights a fast pace. Floyd likes slow fighters. Manny is just about as fast as Floyd.

All of this spells trouble unless Floyd comes in having figured Manny out beforehand. For all the talk about Floyd's intelligence, he's an experience fighter who relies on feel to win. He has to get a feel for the range and timing, and he automatically responds to the opponents tactics through his vast experience bank. I don't think he is that much of a thinker in the ring; he's on autopilot. Manny is similar, but the difference is that Manny has a team that does the thinking for him. Floyd does not.

This is why Floyd drops multiple rounds in all of his fights. I recently looked at the statistics, and Manny scores more knockdowns, more shutouts, and has a higher percentage of rounds won than Mayweather. This is because of gameplanning. This is where Manny has the advantage. He will automatically win rounds because Floyd starts slow, takes breaks, does not have the ability to fight hard for 12, and probably does not have the ability to shut Manny down. On top of that, there will be a number of close rounds where Floyd's clean wok is offset by Manny's volume and control of the center. There may be clear Pacquiao rounds, but very few rounds will be clearly dominated by Floyd. Anyone can win, but it seems that Manny is going to get a few rounds in the bank just because that's how Floyd fights, so Floyd will automatically be at a disadvantage which will be much harder to overcome against this class of fighter. Here's the round categories:

A. 3-5 rounds that Floyd routinely gives up while learning the timing and range of the opponent. If he gave 3 to Guerrero and 5 to Maidana, it's almost definite that Pacquiao will get at least that many given his superiority in speed, experience, power, and overall skill along with his southpaw advantage.

B. 2-3 rounds that Pacquiao wins by landing massive power shots and/or hurting Floyd. Maidana, Judah, and Mosley were able to land bombs. You can bet that Pacquiao will have similar success. Again, he's a dynamic, awkward, highly skilled southpaw.

C. 4-7 rounds that depend on what you like: Floyd's clean counters and lead rights, or Pacquiao's activity, control of the center and flurries against Mayweather on the ropes.

If we go off recent form and common opponents, this is Pac's fight to lose. We can't discount the fact that Floyd has been planning this fight for years and decided to take it now, though. He might come in with a solid gameplan right out the gate and employ lateral movement for the entire fight without ever getting tired or losing his focus. That's why this fight is intriguing....it's so huge and there's been such a long buildup that both guys are going to be at the absolute peak of their abilities.
