anybody who thinks floyd has to get in the ring with paul williams to prove something is an idiot....and it has nothing to do with pauls loss to quintana.....its an unreasonable request to ask somebody as great as floyd...and with as much pride as he has....to get in the ring with somebody with those kind of physical advantages....i laugh when people say he ducks pwill....and he probably does....but to expect him to do otherwise is ridiculous
Sorry I did not read your post but in summary who exactly are the Hagler, Hearns and Duran in PBF's resume?
LOL! Dude...everyone knows talent wise Floyd is working with more than perhaps even Leonard. But boxing greatness is not all about talent. Its about substance and depth moreso than talent alone. If it were then yeah... Floyd would be on top...right there with robinson. But Floyds resume lacks where Rays shines! There isn't anyone on Floyds resume besides Dlh who can compare to duran, hearns, Hagler ect. And Dlh was past his best although still a great win for Jr none the less. Floyd hasn't tried to secure the kind of fights that would cement his standing in the world of bxing. He's been content moving up in weight and taking fights that suited him well. Floyd has never faught out of his comfort zone aside from the castillo fight and that was a surprise. Floyd doesn't cherry pick but he doesn't really try to test himself either which is the difference between Ray and Floyd. Comparing who has a better career there is no comparison...comparing who is a better fighter there is no comparison, Ray wins hands down. Comparing who has more talent...close but there hasn't been a talent like floyd for years...Manny has a **** load of talent but it comes 2nd to Floyd.
You fail to use perspective when you form your opinion. Losses for truly great fighters are like war scars. Just because Pac has losses that were early on in his pro career and against a futer ATG doesn't mean floyd is a better fighter. Only a clown would only look at boxing at a surface level. Boxing is multi demensional with many aspects that should be considered. Pac started off in PI. Impovrished, lacking proper training, nutition and essentials. He also began fighting MEN when he was a boy. The two losses Pac had to begin his career has helped him become the great he has proven to be at the moment. Pac also has a much more credible resume than floyd. Floyd has a great resume for most peoples standards but to say it compares to Pacs is borderline ******ed. No one is questioning Floyds greatness as a boxer. That is evident, but to compare floyd as a better Fighter than Pac or Ray is far off base to say the least. Floyd wins on talent and skills alone. He's never really had to dig deep because he's never agreed to a fight that did not suit his stlye well. Which is fine. Its his life and his career he has to lool out for. But he can't have it all when he doesn't look for the challenges his peers who are on his level do. I love floyd as a truly great boxer but I also love Ray and Pac as truly great fighters who know how to box and who looked for the toughest challenges.
Sugar Ray's fights with Benitez, Hearns(I) and Duran first time round(even while losing) are incredible. The fact that Leonard isn't the only one displaying his greatness makes them all the more better.
