Fonfara-Campillo in IBF eliminator?

according to ringpolska, this fight is being discussed, 16 August at the Whiite Sox Stadium in Chicago, would be Fonfara's 1st defense of his IBO LHW belt and an eliminator for B-Hop's IBF title

Fonfara carries Chicago Boxing on his back. I would go to this fight if it's made.

 

I can't see Fonfara beating Campillo.

...cleanly, that is. I can very easily see him 'beating' Campillo.

I certainly don't anticipate him topping Krusher.

 

I'd be happy for Campillo. Fonfara saw the Kovalev beating and thinks Campillo is done.

Lets see.

 

I think Kovalev is a beast, so no reason to really think Campillo is all that past it.

 

not sure how Campillo gets an eliminator fight having 2 wins in his last 6 fights and coming off a tko loss

 

same i still have hope that campillo takes him apart. without fonfara knowing it till the 8th.

 

I picked Campillo to decision Kovalev (lol) but I'm still sticking with him in this one. I think he can actually beat Fonfara. I underrated Kovalev for sure, but Fonfara isn't really all that.

I actually was going to give you props there, IB... I do remember.

 

I mean, I understood why people were riding with Campillo - most often (like now here against Fonfara) I find myself inclined to ride with him as he does have the skills, experience, slickness and savvy to really disrupt most opponents' game and make them look guileless newbies.

regarding Kov and instead went along with their superficial Boxrec analysis: some Russian with a padded-record who is probably being set up for a "gift" over Campillo. :-(

At least in this case I've seen Andrej Fonfara a few times and know what he's about, therefore feeling confident he doesn't have the needed tools against Tall Dark & Handsome. Nobody seemed to even want to bother doing a minimal amount of video research on Kovalev before writing him off as the victim of an impending schooling.

Yeah, I had watched Kovalev/Boone and I forget, one of his others. I liked what I saw, but Campillo had proven it against far better guys. Looking back though, we should have seen the writing on the wall with Campillo, in his previous fight a year prior, getting dropped twice hard in the opening bell against Cloud. And even in his famous Shumenov rematch, Shumenov won the first three rounds easily... Campillo is a very slow starter who had been dropped twice last time out. Kovalev is a monster puncher. Add them together, I'm disappointed in myself in retrospect with predicting this outcome.

It was just one of those things I guess you either believe in them or you don't. I certainly do now...
