Footwork, foot placement, and distance

    That was Mike Phelps in the original videos. It's a good series Calvin Brock and his father used them to learn how to box so apparently they paid for themselves in Calvin's case.

    Sure - and I think it's very useful to watch these great champions training. But I'm primarily interested in all the little nuts-and-bolts drills, and the unglamorous reputitions of simple moves that it took for them to get to that point.

    You bounce it of the floor (think of basketball), work the "jab" most of the time and keep the right tucked by the chin, when not "punching" with it.

    You can also work in combinations when you feel like it, either take the ball in one hand and punch your combination or bounce the ball hard against the floor, giving you time to do your combination before having to resume the bouncing.
