Former boxers that are most knowledgeable about the sport?

I would say Mike Tyson is pretty knowledgeable about boxing.

 

He gets a lot of hate but Roy Jones Jr is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to calling a fight. A couple times he has had some bias, like most people but he usually calls a fight perfectly. He constantly is calling things the other commentators miss. I remember the Trinidad/Mayorga fight and him saying Trinidad needs to go to the body. A round or 2 later, Trinidad went to the body and either dropped Mayorga or had him hurt.

Mike Tyson is ridiculously knowledgable, he was a true scholar of boxing. Watching countless hours of fight films up on the old projector in Cus D'amato's house. The guy's a freakin encyclopedia haha. One reason why he fought like such a seasoned vetren at such a young age with little experience in my opinion

 

I watch Chris Byrd's fight analysis on youtube and find him to be quite knowledgeable.

 

How is Roy knowledgeable? What does he say?

 

Have you ever listened to a fight he was commentating? If so, you should already know the answer

 

Jones is overrated as a commentator, surprised hbo has not canned him.
