This dude has some nasty hands, and he's shown then in brutal fashion so far with four wins in MMA, and one loss via DQ after administering a real beating.

He'll fight former World's Strongest Man competitor Oli Thompson for UCMMA's heavyweight title, and it will be a great test with the strength and wrestling game Oli brings to the table.

Check out Potter's highlight reel (complete with Diaz-esque showboating) here:

    http://www.yourmma.tv/videos/player.asp/c/3/id/181/mark-potter-highlight-reel-video.htm

There's also a cool article on him here, where he says it's suicide for Thompson if he tries to strike.

got the link working never heard of potter going ito mma before, its a way easier transition for boxers into english mma because of the absence of wrestling compared to american

Great point, it seems a lot of guys come into it from almost strictly a kickboxing background.

It always interesting to watch boxers come into MMA and see how they'll go. Many have failed fairly badly though. James Toney was sure a big flop against Randy.

Potter had surgery to repair a detached retina and after that the The British Boxing Board of Control refused to license him. As I understand it, as a matter of policy they won't license anyone who had had re-constructive eye surgery.

Potter will have his work cut out against Oli Thompson.

Thompson's a phenomenal wrestler and with Potter being relatively untested with any wrestling in his previous five fights, this will be a big test for him.

I like watching fighters with a decent (for mma) boxing background. KJ Noons actually knew how to jab somewhat decently and could throw combinations and time shots well. Escaping ground battles and using his hands was fun to watch. I wonder how many more there are out there.
