well tbf he fought on sky ppv against quigg and fought on sky against cruz for a world title and fought cruz on boxnation for a world title, tbf to cyclone those are 3 of the best fights he could have had and eddie couldnt have done any better but now its time to move on from fighting on channel 5 and get back on sky or bt sport, the mcguigan's cant benefit him anymore, he needs some good paydays to finish his career off
Difference is Quigg hit a lower purse than Frampton for their fight but made more money as he never had to fund Barry, Sandra, Blaine and Jake McGuigans on top as Shane as his trainer. Barry got carried away with himself by shafting the Hearns after they built Carl up in Belfast.
I seen Paddy Barnes who is very good pals with Carl tweeted today that Carl was 1ib over weight as the McGuigans paid him for fight with travellers cheques ! Think he will know the issue and it was probably around Carl making little or no money for the fight as Cyclones accounts are poor and the McGuigan clan all need a wage from it
It will be interesting, but on this occasion Carl would be nuts to not sign with matchroom. Al Haymon is struggling - the money train has been cut off and fights slowed right down. If he did go with AH he will 100% have to travel for any big fights. Hearn will now be in the position to offer LSC/Russell Jnr big money to fight here on Box office. Also Selby -Frampton should be easy to put together and even a Quigg rematch (not interested in that myself but anyway)
It was one thing Shane training him and Barry managing him but then to talk Carl into leaving Eddie when he had built up his profile and fight crowds and was on cusp of a world title fight and get him and his sons to promote him was overstepping the mark, then bringing your wife and other two sons into it and getting Carl to pay all their wages was in my humble opinion taking the royal ****. I have always been against managers/promoters being the same person even if on paper it's Blaine McGuigan who is the promoter, still a massive conflict of interest.
wee man and sons must have been taking too much out of the pot. As the company didn't grow big enough, they're all eating from the few big fighters they have.
If you were Queensberry you would throw the money at getting him, surprised with their lack of talent they haven't signed Selby too, that way they could engineer a few big fights between them all.
