Now first of all I like Frampton and want him to do well. From 30 seconds in you could see that Hughes did not belong in that ring. Im choosing to think that Frampton went to the body and wear down Hughes to put into practice what he has done in the gym. Hughes may have one stoppage against, but if I go trawling Boxrec like you have Im pretty sure id find that it was against tomato cans. Sky are going to talk favourably about a fighter that they've invested in, who is promoted by a manager that they employ. Frampton looks to have good ability and good power. Until he is faced with a true opponent I will reserve judgement. If this is a development fight call it that. Don't make it the main event on a Saturday night.
Hughes had absolutley no intention of winning or coming to fight. He was out of his depth immediately. Prior to the stoppage he looked to punch with mean intent on 2 occassions. AS SOON as he decided to stand his ground and fight (after a telling off from his corner) he got put on his bum. Frampton has some serious class but he is still fighting guys who are no match for him and don't come with the REAL belief they can beat him. When he fights someone who has that REAL belief then we can see if his class moves to the next level. It's hard trying to walk someone onto a shot or catch them when they are open if they aren't letting their hands go. At that level, Hughes has an okay chin. If Frampton let his hands go, then Hughes tied him up. If Frampton lands one good shot, Hughes was too scared to punch back and would slip and step off. Hughes fought like a journeyman, not someone fighting for a title.
Solid win for Carl even if you could see Hughes just wasn't on his level. There's only one Carl Frampton!
" Frampton went to the body and wear down Hughes to put into practice what he has done in the gym." and this is a BAD thing? it ****ing worked.
The one thing I will say, is that Hughes was meant to make it awkward for Carl like the Turley fight. Either Hughes was severley 'overrated' (can't think of another way of putting it) or Carl is just that much better from the Turley fight.
If Frampton had no class then he would have looked REALLY UGLY in a 12 rounds shut out. His class saw him go to the body and if Hughes didn't step up then Carl was looking for the stoppage via breaking him down.

" I agree, that was my point on why it took Frampton so long to stop him, Hughes was a good fight for Framptons 12th, no match for Carl, but why are we acting like Frampton is some 23-0 Euro champ, he fought a guy with a good ranking, good record, and a reputation for being an awkward ****er. should he step up? sure, but why the negativity, I think it was a very professional performance against a ranked fighter.
Frampton showed lots of nice things - he was patient and didn't allow Hughes to cause the problems Turley caused him. Sometimes he was a little hesitant to press the action because he was looking for an opening, but after the third round he was feinting with his feet and making Hughes reach. A lot of potential - maybe a little soon for Quigg, not because I don't think he can beat him, but because I want to see Frampton in step-up first so I can gauge where he is. But hey, Quigg might be the measure.
It's nice that Quigg is fighting next week, gives us a chance to keep tonight fresh in memory and see how Scott does. The Booth fight was mismatch physically and nicely done in terms of timing. Arthur and Hughes are of around same level, Arthur is gritty kid but Quigg to win.
I like Frampton, he comes across as a cracking kid and I hope that he does well but I think that at just this moment in time he should stay away from Quigg (Scott), he's too seasoned and he'll just have too much. Later down the line might be a different matter
