Was in the company of big Frank last night and he was asked a question on who would win prime for prime between Tyson and Lewis and he stated that without a doubt in his mind that Tyson wins every time! I was glad to hear that coming from him because I've always believed the same.
How is he getting on ? Did he seem to be over the problems he's had ?What else did you discuss boxing wise ?
I agree that Mike would have given Lewis fits, but unfortunately they only professionally fought when Tyson was a used up shell of himself and thats all people will remember. Lewis always had a huge right hand though so I wouldn't say a Tyson victory was definite though. One thing is for sure though...that chin of Lewis could not stand up to as many flush shots as Tyson's could take from Lewis. Even a tired old Tyson took a lot of huge flush bombs from Lennox before finally succumbing.
He clearly isn't 100% but he was better than I expected, cracked a few jokes and all that but seemed very nervous and edgy. He was going a Q&A session, the usual stuff about going over his career etc.
Reminds me of Julias Francis who used to come to the same barber shop as me. Not only does he think the Tyson he thought better than the one Lennox fought he also tries to claim that he used to toy with Lennox in sparring. He seems to think the Tyson that beat him beats Lewis which to me is laughable.
I can see Tyson still scare the big **** out of Bruno it clouds his objectivity when it comes to matchups.
Dont think he liked Lennox much cos even up until the Lewis v Tyson fight he was always saying Tyson will KO lewis as he hurt Lennox sparring. Was onl after the fight and me saying how I told him that Lewis would win easily he then tried to say the Tyson he fought was much better.
NO chance. Tyson could of beaten Lewis pre Emanuel Steward, but no version of Tyson would beat prime Lewis post McCall. Well lets just say Tyson would lose 9/10.
For two guys of similar age there peaks are years apart When Tyson was at his best Lewis wasnt ready for him and would have been in big trouble. By the time Lewis reached his peak Tyson was already past his and then when lewis finally destroyed what was left of Tyson that wasnt even relevant. I guess if you could time machine it and have them peak v peak Lewis takes it , he was too big , too strong and too well skilled for Tyson to roll right over. Would likely find himself on his arse at least once tho !
