A Peak '89-'93 Bruno wouldn't beat any Frazier of '67-'75, but if he starts as aggressively as did in '89; throwing bombs against Tyson, then he might drop Joe in the initial two rounds. However, Frazier starts smokin' & brutally stops him against the ropes within 6.
"And this argument that Frazier didn't need to fight them because Quarry beat them is complete bull****" what a diplomat! Have it your way myarrival, but I suggest you look at post #48 of this thread which I consider to quite informed and accurate. To be honest, I'm not going to bother debating this with you anymore because it won't accomplish anything and I don't want to waste anymore of my time discussing it with you. I don't actually care for your agressive tone or sarcastic comments like "What proof do you want? Do you want a handwritten statement from Frazier himself admitting that he went out of his way to avoid them?" Do me a favour, don't reply to anymore of my posts please, and I won't reply to anymore of yours.
Frazier by mid round stoppage, Bruno's jab and physical strength would trouble Frazier early on but his lack of stamina would be his undoing and Frazier would stop him during the middle rounds.
Bruno had all the tools to beat and stop Frazier. In theory. But I think he'd be overwhelmed by Fraziers sheer aggressiveness. I always compare Frazier to a honey badger. Those things are small, about 30 or 40 pounds, but will fight much larger predators like 400 pound lions and 275 pound hyenas. Sure, a lion and hyena could kill a honey badger, but those things are so mean and ferocious that lions and hyenas will generally avoid honey badgers unless its absolutely necessary to deal with one. Joe Frazier would be the honey badger of the heavyweight kingdom. Physicality alone won't cut it vs Frazier. And I don't think Bruno would have it in him to put his tools to use against Frazier so I see Frazier wearing him down and stopping him late, perhaps taking a KD along the way.
Bruno looked great. Bodybuilder physique. However this did not mean he could FIGHT. Frazier a true fighter beats Bruno into submission with a relentless attack within 8 rounds.
The reason I wouldn't pick Bruno to win is his lack of killer instinct. Not because he lacked the physical tools. To me, Bruno was more of a "boxer" than "fighter" if you get what I'm saying. For instance, he lacked the killer instinct to really go after Lennox Lewis, even when it looked like victory was at hand for Bruno. Or against Tyson, tentatively pawing out his jab instead of snapping it out there to stop Tyson at the end of it. Being tentative against Fraizer would cost him. Now if Bruno came out with a mind to destroy, things could get interesting.
Bruno was not a true fighter. Talked a good game, looked like Hercules, fought like Hercules however. Frazier would wear him down and knock him out.
Bruno never had a fighters mentality. The desire and will to win of a real fighter was rarely present when he fought. This is why Frazier would take his will and stop him.
What was frustrating about Bruno's fight against Tyson in 89 was he clearly had the power to hurt Tyson but his arms were just too damn long to really connect with Tyson when Mike was trying to swarm all over him. He just didnt have enough space to really connect cleanly. Up close the only way was to hold Tyson with one hand and hit him with the other hand and that was never going to work with mr 'punch and get out' referee, Richard Steele on Bruno's case all the time. Steele never had a problem with Tyson hitting Bruno while he was down on one knee, early in the first round though. I feel the Frazier/Bruno fight would probably end up the same way.
Frazier would wear Bruno down and stop him somewhere during the middle rounds. Frank would possibly take an early lead maybe even knocking Joe down but it would be a flash knockdown nonetheless and Frazier would slowly take control stopping Bruno around the 9th.
