Nog is not the best Ground fighter in the HW divison, neither is Mir. Fedor is better thn them both, Nog you could argue has better subs, which is fair enough. But Fedors GnP makes up for that and Fedor is just plane a better submission artist than Mir.
Well, Nog lost to Mir because he had ankle problem and he had some infection I think 2 weeks before the fight and had to take antibiotics. So his whole system was running on fumes with a broken ankle. Nog > Mir in every department. Mir's stand up improved only recently. I'd have to see the fight again with healthy Nog to judge.
It's funny because before the Randy fight almost everyone was saying Nog is finished. Nog is washed up. Nog is a corpse now. Then he beats Randy and people wanna turn around and say he can beat Mir now. Fact= Nog got outboxed by Mir. His "ankle" has nothing to do with his head movement. He was caught by quick punches that he didn't see coming. Fact= Nog NOT > than Mir in every department. He got knocked out. Just watch their fight. Fact= Nog has been thrown around several times. Fedor & others have tossed him around, and so did Mir. He cannot rough Mir up like Lesnar did. Mir was highschool state wrestling champ and is well educated in Jiu Jitsu, holds a black belt and knows exactly what he's doing as well. Nog may be a step up in class but Mir knows what he's doing. He didn't just started training last week. Fact= Nog may have Boxed with the Cuban olympic team, but his fundamentals are bad. Hardly no head movement, he stands straight up and is there to be hit. Nog has good hands but Mir's are better and he's a bigger hitter. Mir has a knockout from a lefthook when he knocked out Sims, and he also has a knockout from a straight left hand when he knocked out Nog. Who has Nog knocked out standing up?
Nog easily has better stand up than mir what planet are you on, mir has shown his stand up a couple of times nog has had good stand up his whole career.
Mir is one of the most over rated heavyweight's of all time. It was clear to see that the Nog that fought Mir, Sylvia and Herring was worlds apart from the Nog that fought Randy. Nog looked healthier and fitter than ever and his performance was the best in the UFC so far. He's still past his best but he'll beat Frank Mir in a rematch. I worry that Lesnar will take him down though and smother him and chop away at him for 5 rounds.
i think he meant by you lol On a more serious note frank mir doesn't have many good wins and has lost to some very average fighters, obviously injury played some part in some of the later loses but ian freeman. What needs to happen imo is if mir beats kongo he gets a fight with nog for a shot at the title, nog might need some kind of fight in between as mir isn't fighting next until ufc 107.
The reason Mir looked so good against Nog was the staph infection Nog had, which pretty much sapped all his energy hence the fact he looked like a walking corpse. That affected all parts of his fight including headmovement. Mir would get tooled by Nog if they fight again soon. I'd lay cash on it. :yep
Get real man, Nog was losing every minute of every round against Mir, theres not way his gone come back and beat him. Lets be real here, Nog has been in a life and death match in every UFC fight his been in, he barely managed to win his fights against Herring and Sylvia and Randy is nothing special, he looked slow as hell.
I want to see Mir and lesnar fight a young hungry heavyweight like Gonzaga, Carwin, Kongo...which is exactly whats happening. I am very skeptical of whether Mir is gonna make it out of the ring without being KTFO by Kongo. And I think it was fairly obvious that Nog was the walking dead the night he fought Mir, it was the worst I'd ever seen him.
