What does Dave Allen who has taken a number of beatings for a pay day got to lie about? If it was crappy money that was offered that’s on Frank. in term of budget from what Understand it seems to be much lower BT run PPVs also but don’t have the fighters or pay enough to get them over the line. The only top echelon fighter they have at the moment is Warrington and they can’t seem to get anyone over here to fight him. surely BT are going to want some PPV level fights in the U.K. at some point. Surely they can get a decent name for Dubois, Joyce or Williams atleast.
Warren is infamous for penny-pinching and has a list of fighters who've taken him to court in acrimonious endings as long as your arm. For all Hearn's timeshare salesman act, he does seem to be able to keep fighters on side long-term far more effectively than Warren.
George Warren is a very impressive individual. He's very bright and articulate. No idea why he isn't involved more in a public role.
He isnt even a director mate, resigned years ago. The company is worth minus several millions. They have a large creditor, Mrs Susan Warren who is entitled to all freehold and leasehold property in case she isnt paid in full.
If Allen was offered crappy money thats because that’s what he’s worth. He’s coming off a terrible performance, were he made Pricey look like George Foreman. You are also talking about a guy who routinely puts up posts on twitter threatening to top himself for attention, so yes I have problems listening to anything he says. If Warrington was with Eddie again now, he wouldn’t be able to get LSC over either as he doesn’t want to fight over here. Leo made that clear when there was talk of him coming over for the Frampton rematch / rubber match. Valdez has moved up and Russell barely fights. There is nothing to suggest that Sky’s Saturday fight nights has a higher budget then BT so I don’t know what your basing this on. In fact, I maybe wrong, but I think Warrington - Galahad and the Dubois/Joyce double header where easily the highest costing non PPV shows this year. I make you right with BT wanting PPVs, but let’s not forget they have Fury with possibly the Wilder fight coming soon which will do massive numbers. Dubois will be PPV soon as may Warrington if they can get the right fight.
I see what you are saying and understand Allen’s mental state but I rarely see him as a liar. Called Matchroom out before for poor shows etc. He has taken fights with Yoka and Ortiz for paydays. In fairness you say it’s what he’s worth but the guy sells massive tickets is a household name and there’s a reason Warren was jumping at chance to put Dubois in with him. Would be the biggest fight he’s had and the start of potentially building him to PPV status. Which I do think he would need good undercards with in the future as I think due to Dubois personality he will struggle to sell to a casual audience. From what I had heard they offered Allen less money than he got for the Allen fight. Which is saying something. I agree the Warrington and Joyce cards were likely the most expensive cards but I do think Chisora and Allen double header won’t be far behind based on what Del Boy got for that fight vs Gashi and the upcoming Smith fight will soon take that status also. Eddie May well struggle to get LSC over but I’m sure he would secure a Stevenson, Russell Jr, Magdeleno, Quigg even would all improve Warringtons profile to secure him bigger fights in the future. Eddie has brought over Crawford, Spence,GGG, Usyk, loma over here in the past without problem. If Warrington is going to be PPV and he can’t do it vs LSC then beside Frampton he won’t be PPV vs anyone. I don’t see many PPV stars in Franks stable unless he starts signing some. Dubois has a shot with the right dance partners that can sel a fight like Chisora. Fury is a US fighter now and based off the first fight with Wilder doing Whyte level numbers I think the second will sell well but besides Joshua Fury won’t be fighting anyone PPV after the Wilder fight and definitely not in the U.K. I still have a suspicion that PBC will make the Wilder vs Ruiz fight Anyway if he beats AJ. I just don’t see much in Franks stable that will be PPV stars. There’s a lot of future world champs but not much that go to the next level particularly if Frank can’t secure the big fights and the fighters swam over to America like fury and Frampton. That in part is also due to the way the fighters are built and promoted Franks very old school which was the point of the original article and you only have to look at how Eddie has built Whyte into a PPV star and s building Buatsi and Kelly etc into household names they will be on PPV far quicker than even Warrington in my opinion.
Which is what Eddie keeps pointing out. As history tells us if Frank gets the hump he goes bankrupt and the fighter gets nothing. Yet he’s still allowed to promote in this country under new companies
I know, its disgraceful. Though no doubt not being a director keeps him further away from any blame if/when the company goes under.
People are saying Dubois has massive PPV potential based on the fact that he’s a big lad who sort of fits the Joshua model and Joshua does mega numbers. They’ve not realised however that he’s got the personality of a tree stump. Fury does terrible business everywhere he goes and will only do massive numbers when he fights Joshua. Warrington is big in Leeds and that’s about it. No reason for Dave Allen to lie. If we want to know about Frank’s business dealings I’d suggest we look to the courts and his ultimate business breakdowns with the likes of Calzaghe, Hatton and Burns, whilst also not forgetting that Degale, Brook, Khan, Saunders, Bellew, Hughie Fury, Groves, Cleverly and Mitchell all left him. Indeed, the last ten years of British boxing is basically a who’s who of fighters who have either never signed for Warren or signed for him and left with only a handful of exceptions.
Here's the thing...any stars BT make will be on the first plane to the US for big money Frampton and Fury are Top Rank fighters now nothing to do with Warren even though he likes to pretend he has a say. Dubois isn't as well known as David Allen despite the huge gap in quality between the two of them. He may well have PPV fights but outside of a hardcore he's not going to cross over until/if he has some big wins.
Just made a post for that. I doubt he bothered as probably didn’t wanna put it on, it’s a terrible fight.
It is but Joyce is one of his bigger names and its an EBU title fight. Joyce vs Huck is no worse than Dubois vs Johnson. Not like Franks got Headliners coming out of his ears
Dubois v Allen would provide a highlight reel KO and good viewing figures yes, but in my opinion it wouldn’t do that much that much more for his overall stock IMO. Look at Daniels digital figures on YouTube...Gorman over 1 million...Even the recent 2 unknown African fighters he’s fought...Lartey over 1 million and Tetteh is not far off a million. In comparison Allen - Price hasn’t even cracked over 200k views. Allen is popular on twitter and can be fun at times, but this massive ticket selling stuff to me is nonsense and totally unfounded. Has he even headlined a show in Sheffield or anything? In terms of his paydays against Ortiz, I remember hearing stuff about him getting less then 15k to take a terrible beating against Ortiz. If that was Warren paying this pittance for such a dangerous fight, he would get bodied on here. Even for Yoka, although it wasn’t anything to do with Eddie he got paid low money again. Shortly after Yoka, he was offered the Dubois fight and admitted it was good money, but Hearn talked him out of taking it. I think Frank wanted Dubois - Price and good undercard to be his end of year PPV, which would probably have done decent figures. In terms of Daniels personality I think they could sell him as an ice cold killer type. Yes, he doesn’t say a lot (he’s improving and when he does speak there is a certain boyish charm to him) , but if he keeps knocks them out, that will attract the commercial business. It’s a big year for Warrington - I think they will fight this Chinese guy in early 2020 and Frank has already started talking Elland a Road, which would have to be a big unification. My money is on a Stephenson fight, but either way the pressure is on Frank to deliver. He has done an excellent job with Warrington this point, but it’s a critical time to push on as this is his peak, and I don’t think with his style it will last for more than 2 years. Eddie has brought over a lot of fighters with the PPV vehicle there is no doubt about that. But like Frank, he has also been unable to deliver for his fighters on numerous occasions even with that vehicle. Let’s not forget that even with AJs powerbase, Eddie fcuked it up and they couldn’t even get Whyte to take the fight which led to him having to go over to the US and get himself beat. What about Kell Brook...even when Khan was under his banner, he couldn’t deliver that fight. I agree about the stable and the potential difficulties that Frank may have, although Yarde was a couple of punches away from being World Champion and instant PPV. Say what we like about his development leading up to Kovalev, but if Warren and Tunde do the right thing going forward, Yarde will be a star. He got massive exposure and high viewing figures, which should translate to the box office if they play there cards right. As for fighters like Kelly in Eddie’s stable, I completely disagree. This kid is nowhere near any type of big name, and IMO never will be a star, although I would like to be proven wrong. Buatsi, yes maybe but I don’t really see that much else in Eddies stable that is going to translate to PPV anytime soon.
