Yeah, I saw the fight. There's no way that was KO of the year. Of the week, maybe. I just rattled off a dozen fights with more impressive/significant/important/brutal KO's. I'm sure there's a bunch I'm forgetting about as well. I honestly don't see any reason to consider that KO of the year by any measure.
You're seriously going to pick on that one? It was a liver shot. It made Shogun tap. The fight was ended because of that shot. Diaz/Daley was a TKO as well, and a controversial one at that. Fedor/Hendo was a TKO. The Jones/Shogun KO is important because of the significance of the fight and the fighters.
Tkod and Kod are classed as the same thing in most cases fella as there's no 10 count in MMA and the Ref has to stop the fight either way There are cases where there's a straight kod but it's a more blurry distinction than in boxing
I've always found it unusual that a technical knockout is when the guy isn't actually out and the ref steps in to stop further damage, but a technical submission is when the ref hasn't stepped in. There's no distinction between sub of the year and technical sub of the year, so there shouldn't really be a difference between kod and tkod, aside from the obvious instances. Also: That list was just a bunch of fights that came to me as significant, important or particularly impressive. Especially when compared to the kod that the TS posted earlier, claiming kod of the year, which in my opinion belongs in one of Zombie Prophet's knock out of the week threads, it was impressive, but knock out of the year? I don't think so. You mad if you think the Fedor/Hendo kod won't be a contender for knock out of the year, especially given the significance of that win for both Hendo and Fedor's career. Shogun/Jones listed as a tko. Yep, it could've also been listed as Submission (strikes) or a KO (Liver Shot), which would've made Bas very proud.
I wasnt speaking of the significance of the ko, i was straight saying as far as the skill which that ko was setup and the fact that the dude was out cold after the elbow and got hit hard two more times and didnt get up for 5 minutes and when he did get up still was asking what happened. If you wanna talk significance......adam lynn will be on strikeforce or bellator easy after that one. Adam lynn is a top 15 guy at 155. Heard me!
I can't believe I'm actually arguing this, but anyway. If you want to compare skill, or a beautiful set up pick almost any of the KOs I listed. Machida and Anderson are the first that come to mind for pure skill. Watch the Silva/Belfort KO in slow motion, it's a thing of beauty. For set ups, Curran set up Sandro beautifully, had him concentrating on the hands while he got his feet in position before laying a shin across his cheekbone. For brutality, Randy lost a tooth. Stout had Edwards twitching and convulsing all over the mat. People thought Barry was dead after Kongo planted him. Also, seriously, a guy who's 17-8 and has lost every time he's stepped up in competition (the guy has fought in Strikeforce and WEC before and lost every single time) and you think he's top 15 in what is probably the strongest division in MMA right now?
You dont even know what the **** your talking about when you speak about adam lynn. Adam lynn retired and focused on the things he needed to do to become a better fighter. Since coming out of retirement hes 7-0. His boxing is top 3 in mma and sparring for that fight he spanked rob mccoulough all over the gym and in about 4 days sparring nam phan won about 1 round. curran was a beautiful setup and ko but sandro wasnt hury half as bad as demarce.

Talk to nam phan, rob muccollough, and bj penn.....ask them what they think. All had their asses handed to them in sparring.

I've used the quality of his recent opponents to show how wrong you are and you are suggesting that I go and speak to BJ ****ing Penn and ask him about how this guy apparently destroyed him in sparring. Yet I'm the one who is talking ****....? Seriously, is there video of these amazing sparring sessions where he's taking apart one of the ATGs at 155? Or has BJ mentioned this guy in an interview and talked about how unstoppable he was in sparring? You know what? I don't even care. He can look as good as he wants in sparring, his record speaks for itself. It's a mediocre record for a mediocre fighter facing mediocre opposition. Why are you so high on this guy anyway?

So the answer is no...? Signing a big deal and being top 15 are two very different things. Do you know who else fights at 155 in the majors?
I was there and watched the sparring. Top 15...heard me!!!! Im very ****ing aware of the top 15 fighters at 155. MMA and BOXING is part of my everyday life. That is what i do.
