seen him a few times when he was a AM very elusive ,,as a pro he slowed right down and as neglected his boxing skills and just relying on raw power and granite chin
Not really irrelevant since you don't win a bronze at the World Ams unless you're very good. He lost by 4th round TKO to Manfredo on the "outclassed" rule and I think he also lost to Dennis Inkin on points, don't know about any other 'names' he fought. Froch used his jab a lot more and to greater effect as an amateur, a jab which he has shown as a pro isn't actually that bad when he uses it, like against Abraham and in the second half of the Pascal fight.
Believe his record was 88-8. He fought Jason Booth, Stopped him in round two. He lost to Bozic who DeGale beat earlier this year.
If he boxed Jason Booth they must of both been about ten years old lol. He lost to manfredo jr and bozic. i cant see how he was any good as an amateur because lets be honest his technique is awful without that chin he would be british level
Peter Manfredo Jr beat him as an amatuer not sure if it was points or k.o , probably points cause Froch can take a good shot haha
He did fight Jason. As you say when they was bambino's . TBH he won a few ABA titles and won a bronze at the worlds and won some individual titles at international comps. He was a awkward customer like he is now but even more so. Fighters wasn't sure how to deal with his awkward uppercuts and leads and his jab is a good weapon. He gets a lot of stick about his technique but he utilizes what he has very well (jab, fitness, physical attributes, different angles of punches). He was a good solid amateur who did well on international stage. He lost to guys he'd beat as a pro (IMO) so i think where they suited the Am's and hit a ceiling, Carl pushed on and got every ounce out of himself. His long arms even to this day trouble good boxers. Even Kessler remarks at the trouble he had with his long arms.
Manfredo was a talented fighter as a youngster. All fighters develop at different rates.. Carl is more suited to professional ranks. I don't see anything to be embarrassed about honestly. Some good fighters have lost to lesser men then Manfredo. Haye's lost to guys who no one ever heard of etc. The AM's are where you learn and bounce back from defeats and use them to become a better fighter and man. He was a world class AM when the AM system wasn't as good as it was now here and he's proven to be a world class professional no matter how poor technically he can be. Just my two pennies worth anyways :good.
HAHA mate im just kidding your right in what you say just got it in a bit for mr froch as he was a dick with the ''everybody loves me comment'' and ''george can cut it at my level'' comments. hes not a good boxer imo just a fighter with a world class chin and lots of heart but what do i know? haha ere by the way mate did my cringiest post thread get deleted?
