Credit where credit is due. If Froch does retire if and when Chavez fights falls through he wont get any stick from me. Winning at Wembley with a KO punch. Money in the bank and has created a legacy.

    Any thoughts.[/quote]

Legacy, stop it please. You're actually beginning to believe the drivel that comes out of his own mouth.
Yes he has fought most of the best fighters around but let's not forget he got absolutely schooled by Ward and has NEVER proven he is the best in his weight division, he fell embarrassingly short against Ward.
A top British fighter absolutely, a world class operator indeed but leaving a legacy as some kind of legend, I'm afraid not.
He even came out with another classic that 'tens of thousands' of British fight fans would travel over to see him fight Chavez !

Froch has earned the right to take the big money fight then retire as far as I'm concerned. Always comes to fight, made the most of the talent he has. Good luck to him

I agree, he's shown he's one of the best but not THE best, not even in his weight division let alone p4p. My point was that you create your legacy against THE best, fights that will define you, when he fought the best he was like a fish out of water, no one can deny that and he's had no interest whatsoever in fighting Ward again.
Is a fight against Chavez really a much bigger money fight than Degale ??

He won't be paying tax on the Chavez money whereas its 50% of a likely smaller purse to fight degale

He probably should retire. He seems happy and the only thing that seems to be motivating him is a fight in Vegas. Not sure a Degale fight would motivate him enough and this would only tarnish his legacy if he went out there not totally focused. To be honest, no boxer should lace up the gloves if they are not totally focused or motivated. But then again, a stack of money has a way of making people do things that they shouldn't...

I like Froch but im not interested in the slightest in the Chavez fight. Would love to see him fight Stevenson, ggg or even Ward again. I know ward again seems like madness but for me he has to try and avenge that defeat. then bow out.

Why does he think Chavez jr is such a good fight? Does he know that this guy struggles to make weight all the time and is a lazy boxer?

I'm not even sure Chavez sells many tickets nowadays.

Not that the Chavez fight is all that great (money factor aside), but what has Degale ever achieved to make him such a great opponent?

Of course he will, he is a british citizen so will pay 50% (High rate tax) on all earnings regardless of who or where he fights.

Froch has earned a big glitzy fight, no questions there. I just dont get the obsession with Chavez. Chavez is completely irrelevant in boxing right now let alone his weight class. If Froch was the warrior he claims to be every 10 seconds then a rematch with Ward is the fight he would be chasing. He loves to mention in every second breath that the first fight was "a close...close fight against a man who hasnt lost since he was 12".

Degale, chavez and Kessler 3 are fights i personally dont want to see and wont enhance his legacy. Go to Vegas and fight one of the other belt holders and get another strap. Maybe move up and bash Stevenson or fight GGG at a catchweight.

I cant stand him but you have to respect his achievements. I thought he would dodge the rematch with Groves but to take it and win in the manor he did was a fantastic victory.

He won't be paying the British tax rate on a fight abroad, even if they did try to get some of that he'd just put it in a Swiss account or something as the British taxman has zero right to claim money that was earnt outside the uk

Doesn't work like that mate. Firstly it will come down to who is paying him, if its promoted or co-promoted by Hearn then he will pay his fighter, Froch. Hearns company is UK based and subject to UK tax so therefore Froch wages will be taxed at the UK rate as will all of the profits Hearn and his company makes.

Even if he didn't pay UK tax he would be subject to tax in Vegas, not sure what the higher rate of tax is there. Look at Pacquiao lately he is facing the same battle, the Philippines want their cut of his taxes even though he is fighting in USA as he is a resident of the Philippines.

I work offshore in Norway and i pay UK tax and Norwegian tax. There's no way the taxman would let a UK resident pop over to Vegas earn a few million then pop home again and live tax free.

Let me educate the less well-informed among you.

Firstly, the top rate of tax has been reduced to 45%, so no-one will pay 50% income tax on UK earnings.

Secondly, UK resident and domiciled (for tax purposes) individuals are liable to UK tax on their worldwide earnings. However, double taxation agreements exist where an individual is taxed in another jurisdiction. So if for example he pays tax in earnings in the US, a UK tax liability is unlikely.

Even he fights in a tax haven and suffers no tax liability in the relevant jurisdiction, he will still be liable to UK tax regardless of whether the income is remitted, unless he undertakes aggressive tax avoidance (which could be retrospectively reversed as has happened to many big names) or illegal tax evasion.
