i suppose i was surprised at how close the fight was on the night, when in my mind i expected them to trade with froch losing early rounds before getting stronger as fight went on similar to taylor fight.

but andre just didnt engage and his flasy pot shotting fell short for at least the first 3 or 4 rounds and by the mid point dirrell was very ragged and clinching 10+ times a round and it was no shock to see him deducted a point i just wish it had been sooner.

dirrell even said himsel that froch won the last round and this was a round that team dirrel asked andre to go and look for the ko - but stylistically it played straight into froch's hands and was the type of round that this fight should have been from the beginning.

dirrell was great in very short spells, but was very ragged and poor and held for very long spells

his work was better than frochs, but there was just too little of it and it depsite frochs work not being as good, he was trying every round. dirrells work was diluted with too much holding and complaining and thats what swung the most of the rounds away from dirrel

It was close, but in no way a robbery and the fans on this site are becoming embarrassing. Dirrell clearly wasn't too aggrieved with the fight, even hugged Froch after it, you don't do that if you were robbed. He earned more respect from me after the fight than he did in his fight, no moaning, accepted his loss and I wish him luck in the future...hopefully soon his fans will get as much class as him...not likely tho.

Some very good points on the two meaningful posts.

I think froch did just enough purely as he came to fight, BUT if this fight was to happen at the end of the super 6 and after direll has fought more class opponents i think Direll would have the class and more importantly the confidence to have engaged Froch a lot more than he did and would have earnt a good and maybe an easy win and im a froch fan!!

Previous Dirrell fights, against lesser opposition, show he cannot fight up close and as soon as his back touches rope he grabs arms, waist, ducks low, spins off, anything to avoid close quarter combat. He's a fast sharp shooter with a bit of snap in his long shots. Great for the ams and inermediate pros. But when you step up and mix with the big boys you also need strength and grit total belief.Direll did'nt look to me like he believed he could win the fight until it was to late. It's quite possible,i think, that this fight could happen later in the tournament. And hopefully Dirrell has gained from this fight and have belief in his ability to engage more with Froch. In which case we will get a much better fight, and Froch would knock him out:yep

Somebody said yesterday on here that Dirrell land 280 punches to Froch's 140.

    Are these true?

I thought Dirrell looked much better in the last few rounds when he commited himself a little more.

If he could do that the whole fight Froch would be in serious trouble.

Im not so sure he could though. At that sort of pace I see Carl knocking him out.

He ran for a reason. Dodgy chin? Not physically strong enough to mix it?

Straight after watching it:tired, i thought the same.
However you would think froch would lrean from his mistakes and take the fight to dirrell in the early rounds. At times he just stood there pushing out his jab to try and get a reaction, even in the corners he would stand and wait for dirrell to make a move.
I think if he pressed the fight moer/took more chances he would have kod dirrell who looked a bit shakey whenever froch landed.

People were making up numbers, I've yet to see any properly sourced stats.

Edit: and as most of the people making up numbers were doing it to defend their contention that 'Dirrell outlanded Froch 2:1' and that is the exact ratio of the numbers cited, I would have thought the chances of those being some of the made up ones are fairly high.

I was surprised Froch didn't take the fight to Dirrell a lot more than he did.

I know he was 'the aggressor', but that was surely by default, with Dirrell on the back foot at all times.

He will be kicking himself, that's for sure.
