Youre probably right overrating the performance and agreed the fight was a A+ but I do rate Pascal ... i personally think hes good and Dawson may get exposed in there upcoming fight ...
Overall, and all things considered I'd give Froch a B+. I thought that vs Kessler, Froch showed much improvement and with a higher work rate he would have pulled the result out. He is unquestionably a world level fighter, but hasn't proven himself to be elite in the division. There is still time and opportunity though.
I reckon it's a bit late in the day for Carl to start doubting Hennessy now. Unless you're a Mayweather or a DeLaHoya, even world class fighters like Froch don't remain at the top for too long. Froch's last three fights have all been big fights and not one of them has had any sort of decent tv exposure whatsoever.
Totally agree David, I can't see Froch winning the SuperSix, and I've read he will retire if he doesn't. if he does and carries on, I can't see him remaining at the highest level for long.
where does he go if he loses against AA? Ditch Henney then what? Rematches? maybe..too late for new trainer? How old is he? Honestly, i think this super 6 turnt out to be a bad idea, its demolishing the fighters..this would be good for up and coming fighters!
Bute would be 1st on the list if he got knocked out of the tournament maybe a tune up first in Nottingham but thats has to be the obvious path if he loses maybe then consider retirement if not he still probably has the option of moving up to LHW rematch with Pascal or fight Kelly Pavlik who will be knocking around as well so there are still plenty of options around. TBH i think he would lose them all apart from Pavlik though
Yep. The moment has almost gone for Froch. It's a real shame. He's lost out on a good deal of fame and fortune thanks to Hennessey's incompetence. Real missed opportunity.
Oh dear. This is the first crack! Golden Boy will begin chipping away at this crack soon. If they haven't already given that Hennessey had an agreement with them so they already know his fighters!
Froch isn't the only one getting cheesed off with Hennessy. Unfortunately, Froch should've ditched him a long time ago instead of crawling at a snail's pace to world level whilst missing out on fighting Calzaghe at the Millennium Stadium instead of Kessler a couple of years back. He could've made more from that 1 fight than for this whole Super Six tournament but was just never in a position to make it economically viable. Instead, he was fighting in small hall fights even less regularly than a major ppv star fights. Hennessy is small time and always will be
In all fairness im pretty sure Froch was selling out the nottingham arena pretty regulalry for a fair fewof his British title defences but that next step to national fame just elluded him
Had Froch been moved faster I think he could have challenged Calzaghe earlier. I think it's worked out well for Froch. Froch will never beat Joe and Froch needed time to improve. He had the right fights to test him and make him improve his footwork and stamina. The sloppy punching and falling out of position remains but his stamina has improved as has his fight experience. We forget the tough character building fights he had with Adamu, Magee etc
Nah, some of the guys were gettin on in years anyway. This is just what happens when you get the top guys in a division to fight each other, people get losses. The young guys will come out of it better off I think. If Froch does go out after losing again, he still has options if he wants to keep fighting.
