Broner really shocked me thought he could stop him but not by a one sided beat down then randomly steppin up his workrate again to get the stoppage, no one can hate on him now

Broner beats Burns. Burns though does well in earlier rounds due to his lateral movement (Broner will take time, slow feet) but once Broner gets him to stand and box with him Ricky who like Demarco fights tall is in trouble.

Ricky isn't a inside fighter, leaves the body open. Broner will have a field day once he gets inside.

Deserved winner in the end. I had him 5 rounds to 2 up going in to the 8th. It's a shame DeMarco got stopped in a title defence after 1 KD though.

Broner really can fight to be fair.

Was v interesting to see the little bit beforehand comparing him v Floyd and ODLH at the same stages of their career. Could definitely go places.

Based on that, I'd pick him to execute Burns.

got to say though, its laughable when he claims he's not trying to emulate Floyd, he tries to fight like him, talk like him and even walk like him during the ringwalk. Hell, his facial expressions during the post fight interview were floyd ish. This kid has done some serious Floyd observing lol

Really enjoyed Broner's performance tonight, from the 4th round on he just massacred DeMarco on the inside.

He's a better talker then Floyd, He's not as natural a fighter as Floyd IMO. I noticed the coach shouting and demanding him to go underneath in the pocket which says he may need a bit more coaching then Floyd does who's been well school since a young kid as you all know.

He needs to be his own man, TBH guys Boxing needs guys like him. Naz, Floyd etc etc (to tired to think of more showman) these are the guys people remember and these are the guys who get Boxing on T.V.

Don't get me wrong i can't stand the sillyness at times but this sports about characthers and i love my hardworking grinders more then anyone but these are the guys who help keep the sport mainstream in a small way. All boxers play a part in this and the showman deserve there props and Broner is good.

He may be like Floyd though, Needing a big casual name to feast upon to become a bigger ticket seller. He will sell PPV's with that type of aggression and skill.

The shocking thing was the amount of people that actually thought Burns v Broner was a competitive fight. It shouldn't have taken beating up a B level guy like DeMarco for people to recognize that fight is a potentially special fighter against a solid, dependable and well-rounded world class pro (that is a lot better than DeMarco) but ultimately has no real weapon to trouble Adrien Broner with.

What did people seriously think was gonna happen, Burns was gonna jab and move laterally all night? Burns never had the artillery to do anything, he has no power thats going to remotely discourage Broner from walking him down and you just know with Broner's handspeed, variety and accuracy he's going to pick Burns apart to the body and completely open up his defence that way. Seek and destroy, no more no less.

The only guy out there in this vicinity troubling him in any way is Matthyse. That draws parallels with the Ponce De Leon fight in a lot of ways. I wouldn't hesitate to say Broner has improved since then, though. Thats a good fight. Danny Garcia? Nah, does't have the output. You're not gonna beat him throwing 10 hayemaker counterpunchers a round.

Broner put in a great performance but DeMarco's defence/tactics were pretty poor. Burns would be the underdog rightfully but I think his style is what's needed to give Broner problems.

Burns style doesn't pose any problems. He's just a basic one-two-left-hook to the body fighter. Damn good and it and damn well rounded defensively and footwork wise, but Broner is going to see that jab-right hand combination coming all night, his reflexes and defensive adjustments are uncanny once he figures you out, he's different from Floyd, he's not safety first, he's more aggressive than even the younger Floyd yet still is defensively excellent. That means he can anticipate Burns arsenal of punches, he can anticipate Burns' basic M.O which is the same for every fighter and he'll just walk him down and execute him. Painful night for Ricky, I wouldn't even put him in that fight personally, I'd put Burns in with Vasquez or Abril first. They're winnable, to go from fighting Kevin Mitchell and Moses to Broner and getting beat up would be unfortunate when he couldd pick him some creditable wins.
