    Taylor- Undisputed MW champion
Abraham- MW champion (sent two guys out of S6 with his power)
Dirrell- Excellent fighter with amazing skillset but no mental strength
Johnson- Probably the best journeyman fighter in the last decade or so

Still excellent wins that is pretty much more legitimate than Calzaghes.

And Bute is MILES better than Jeff Lacy you idiot.

Different types of achievements. Calzaghe has longevity but much weak opposition. Froch has consistent high level of opposition, but with a couple of losses, one against a guy he could have beaten if he'd upped his workrate, and one who is admittedly the better boxer, albeit dull as **** and a hometown fighter. Calzaghe could have avoided this argument altogether had he consistently fought tougher opponents.

This is mostly a myth. Calzaghe had a very gritty run.

Regardless, if Froch beats Kessler in a rematch I feel they will be comparable. Kessler is regarded as Calzaghes best win. Even if he aint prime no more, Froch is also an aging fighter and winning a rematch shows the kind of mental strength and fighting spirit that boxing should be all about.

No they aren't. Taylor was a shadow of himself at that point. Abraham accomplished nothing at SMW, he stopped a shot Taylor, then lost to Dirrell - So much for that power that sent 2 out of the tournament :nut Dirrell has achieved nothing, and has done nothing since. Johnson is as you say a journeyman at SMW. How are these better wins than against Eubank, Reid, Woodhall, Mitchell, Brewer?

Also how is Bute miles better than Lacy? Both were hyped up undefeated SMW champions, who got exposed when they stepped up against Calzaghe and Froch respectively.

Froch should/could have done better. He let Kessler get the better of him.

Kessler is also past his prime and I wasnt totally convinced by his Greene performance. Froch will better him in the rematch.

Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler ,Abraham, Johnson, Ward, Bute.

The list above is the list of Frochs recent resume. This beats anything Calzaghe has produced in his long disappointing career. Im not discrediting the skill of Joe, but his longevity and consistency of top opponents is shocking. He fought reality TV show contestants as his big fights. Wut?

Eubank was a good win but Chris was shot at this point
Woodhall is overated by Calzaghe fans as per usual
Byron Mitchell would be a contender in todays SMW scene
Brewer..Isnt he the dude that lost to Antwun Echols??

You need to think your opinion through. Froch lost against Kessler and Ward. Calzaghe outboxed Kessler. That tells you what?

Bute and Pascal are very good wins for Froch. They dont top Kessler, Eubank or Hopkins, but impressive never the less.

Taylor, AA and Johnson are average wins, if we are to debate greatness.

Dirrell ... seriously  Blacklisted by HBO and Showtime ... No promotor, no upcoming fight ... Best accomplishment is beeing knocked out cold by slugger AA ... Wake me up when he gets back in the ring ...

I never stated that Froch would beat Calzaghe, i fully respect Joes boxing ability but we are talking about resume's here and not skill.

Again I need to re-iterate, Eubank was well past his prime when he lost to Calzaghe. The Hopkins win is HUGELY debatable, not a great win considering that Hopkins was past 40 and Calzaghe could not win convincingly.

The difference between Joe and Froch is that Froch is more mentally hungry to challenge himself to his fullest. Calzaghe fought RJJ even when JC stated that he thought RJJ was well past his prime when he lost to Tarver. What does that tell you about his honour as a fighter? And then he retires straight after...

Froch passed Cal-slappy a LONG time ago. Froch will fight ANYONE. Froch WANTS to fight the best.

Slappy spent an entire career AVOIDING great fighters who were still in their prime. He'd fight no-hopers, people from lighter weights who were forced to fight above their natural weight, or big name fighters who were clearly well past their primes.

Slappy was the exact OPPOSITE of Froch, in other words.

This is true. I am a bigger fan of Froch than Calzaghe for this reason. I still think Joe has a better resume, though.

Problem with this angle is that Jones were dody himself. He was not above easy paydays against inferior opponents. But I agree with you never the less. I dont think Calzaghe would risk it against a prime Jones, unless he would earn so much he never needed to fight again.

The problem with Calzaghe was being the WBO champion for many years meant he was able to avoid mandatories or fight crap ones and his promoter wanted to squeeze every last cent out of him and Hatton before being absolutely forced to step it up and provide respectable opposition for them at the last stretch.

I believe he (and Hatton for that matter) wanted to fight a better calibre of opposition but were prevented most of the way by their promoter not wanting to pay top dollar to bring the best over and not wanting to risk his fighters travelling abroad for the best challenges. Having watched and remembered Calzaghe's reign it was a disgraceful series of let-downs and premature stoppages for many years with the likes of Pudwill and Mrkacthian, considering he was actually a belt-holder.

Froch is the antithesis of Calzaghe/****** model. He fights the best no matter what, doesn't cherry pick the right time. If Calzaghe would've been managed the same way then he might have some better wins on his record, but also might've got robbed or lost legitimately, especially if fighting away.

Abraham will be picking up Calzaghe's old WBO super middleweight title in August, so he will have done something at the weight soon enough to add to his middleweight reign.

Remember Calzaghe beat Kessler close but clear on points at home in Cardiff with 50,000 home fans. Froch lost a close points decision to Mikkel Kessler away in Denmark. In a similar home atmosphere as the Froch/Bute fight, Froch would likely have won and will likely win the rematch in these circumstances.

Ward is a P4P fighter in his prime who Calzaghe/****** would not have touched as Ward would've 'priced himself out'.

Calzaghe pulled out of a Glen Johnson fight twice.

Calzaghe fought Hopkins and Jones at 175. Froch's 168 resume far surpasses Calzaghe if he beats Kessler now and realistically when Froch retires his resume will be bigged-up further how Calzaghe's is at the moment and will likely eclipse Joe's, even in public opinion.

You really think Calzaghe would have fought Ward. Ward wouldn't come to Wales and Calzaghe certainly wouldn't have gone to America to fight Ward.

It's about the fights that actually happen. Ward is a prime p4p fighter with an extremely hard style to beat - you can't judge him now, he's gonna achieve a lot more. That's like judging Calzaghe before he beat Jeff Lacy - no one would've compared him to Jones or Hopkins at that time.

Fair enough with Kessler but like I said - Calzaghe beat Kessler close but clear on points at home in Cardiff with 50,000 home fans. Froch lost a close points decision to Mikkel Kessler away in Denmark. In a similar home atmosphere as the Froch/Bute fight, Froch would likely have won and will likely win the rematch in these circumstances.
