Come on, Bodysnatcher! You're acting as if Froch had dominated Taylor throughout, lacyed him for 11 rounds and then KOed him in the last! Level of performance is crucial here, not just names and statistics...and had it not been for the way Taylor fought in the last half a round, Froch would not have kept the belt. Taylor is a big name, but a big name at MW, not at SMW...and the reason he's a big name is because of his level of performance, not because HBO promoted him or because of what his record on boxrec is against other names like Hopkins, Wright, etc. He's good because he performs! So how did he perform against Froch? When Taylor realised Froch was coming in strong, giving his all for the stoppage in the last round, he should have stopped trying to stand in front of him and counter him, because he knew it just wasn't working. And when he was getting tagged with big shots, he should have clinched and run down the clock! This is what a world class level fighter does in those situations, especially against a fighter who doesn't rough you up on the inside - and Froch certainly doesn't! The reason I for one picked Taylor to win with so much confidence was because I thought that when the going was going to get real tough for him, he'd react like he had done in all his other fights before this one, particularly his last, against Lacy - clinch, and recover! But to my great amazement, he didn't, in this one, when he really should have!:huh Compare how Taylor reacted to being in trouble to what Bute did against Andrade, late on, and to what Manfredo did against Calzaghe... Taylor acted like Manfredo, not like Bute. He did very well indeed to beat the count and get on his feet and then, crazily enough, he tried to counter again, instead of clinching!atsch He threw it away right there! He could have survived till the end had he done what any world class level world class fighter does in those circumstances... Taylor fought at B level throughout the fight, and at times in every round, he raised his game to B+ level, only to drop to a B- level in the last round... So, returning to level of performance...Froch performed at B- level for most of the fight, had a couple of rounds in the fight when he performed at B level, and raised his game in the last round to close the show. ...Bute's performed better than that against Bika and Andrade, overall. ...So, I have nothing against anyone ranking Froch higher than Bute and Andrade because they think he'll beat the h2h, but the argument that he's performed at a higher level just doesn't add up...:conf Bute is a B to B+ performer (closer to B level, though, so far), Andrade is a B level performer, no doubt about it...and Froch is a B level perfomer too, on what we've seen so far...IN MY OPPINION, naturally.:good
:admin:admin:adminPerformance doesn't matter at all? Only the name you beat and the boxrec result? :admin:admin:admin Nah...this is not the real Bodysnatcher here...probably his small brother... :bart :deal Bodysnatcher's little brother, ask Bodysnatcher whether he thinks Calzaghe would have done as well as he did on the night against a prime Roy Jones Jr as he did against the version of Roy Jones Jr he fought on the night, and see what he tells you and then get back to us, under your own username.:deal
Kessler have traveled to fight in USA 2000, Australia 2005, Wales 2007, Germany 2008! Name one 168 champion from US or GB that did the same? He is danish and have a danish promotor, so its very natural to me that he fights on his own soil most of time, when people are willing to pay to see him fight there! Kessler have not done much since losing to JC, but the guy have balls to fight anywhere! and he is still #1 in the division!
Pavlik fanboy I never said such a thing. Why because I know fighters and I knew Taylor was taller and had the reach and speed advantage. You could look at my previous post and see for yourself. Didn't say anything about Taylor being bigger. I said he was taller, had the longer reach, and faster handspeed. A point stated during the "tales of the tape" segment before the fight.
Boxrec has Johnny Nelson as the greatest CW of all time so I would not take their rankings to seriously.
Someone else said pre fight Froch had ALL the physical advantages. Hence my statement. Pavlik fanboys were accused of hyping Taylor after his win, now it is our turn to accuse you.
