If Calzaghe has beaten him easily there would of been excuses/reasons.

He'd be getting nowhere near the level of credence that B-Hop is getting.

    No way. No how.

Not sure about the Warren bit, but I would have definately rather he had faced Pavlik than Jones and he would have got far more credit for the win if not the same amount of $'s. To be honest though, Ido sometimes feel with Joe that whatever he had done people would argue the toss!

To be honest mate you're almost certainly right but like I say it would have looked better fighting a guy who many people thought was a beast at the time over a guy who most people thought was finished, including Calzaghe who said in his own autobiography a year before the fight that Jones was done.

Many people though Lacy was a beast at the time, but now Joe gets no credit at all. I think the same would have happend with Pavlik, too high a weight (LH), Pavlik was Ill, Pavlik was not all he was cracked up to be la de ****ing da, you know how it goes.

On Jones though I agree 100%, I can see why he took the fight, Joe was in semi-retirement himself, it was a chance to fight soembody who was the same era as himself, chance to fight at MSG etc... but it adds absolutely nothing to his resume.

He should have gone for Dawson or Tarver.

That said, Dawson had just gone life and death with Glen Johnson and Tarver was coming off the back of trouncing Woods.

So which would have been the best at that point in time? We know it's now Dawson but at that point it was close.

Of course, he could have rematched Hopkins.

I think the Lacy win was outstanding. I think Lacy didn't perform on the night though.. had Calzaghe fought the Lacy that destroyed Robin Reid it might have been a different outcome.

But then if Lacy had fought the Reid that fought Calzaghe would the result have been the same?

On his day Reid was a cracking fighter!

I think so, at that time Lacy was something else. Took a lot of balls for Calzaghe to take the risk.... and he nearly pulled out of that one too...

Yeah I heard Warren say that.

I still love the moment in the corner after the first round when Joe comes in sits down and says 'he's ****! He can't punch ****!'

Still prime Lacy vs Prime Reid would have been a much closer fight I think.

Reid like a lot of people did pick Lacy to beat Joe.
