Well this is bull**** George more then deserves a shot again at the title. He made a very good account for himself (Alot better then I expected and many others aswell) Froch really needs to rematch George!
A final payday against Chavez or Golovkin would be something to see. However, this leaves Grooves in a tough spot. Everyone knows now how dangerous he can be, but he has no titles, notable wins or wider recognition to use as a bargaining chip in negotiations. I don't think there will be many good boxers lining up to fight him anytime soon.
Financially best thing for Froch would be beat Chavez than rematch Bute and retire, but he should rematch Groves.
Yeah, financially a reasonable decision but frankly, he's losing quite a lot of supporters lately with his antics. He's alienated me too. I wish he got back on track.
This is somewhat of a disaster for Groves, as mentioned further up, it leaves him out on his arse with no obvious direction to go in. I think he needs to go after Robert Stieglitz, I think Abraham is in line for a shot a third fight with Stieglitz, could Groves go for a fight against Abraham as an eliminator? It's the only real option open to him, I know there are some who have said a rematch against Degale, I don't think thats worth anything to Groves at this stage and won't really do anything for him at the table when it comes to further big money fights down the line. It makes sense for Froch to do this, from a financial point of view as many have said, but its a bad move because there will always be the Groves fight now in the back of people's minds when they look back on Froch. For the record, as long as Groves didn't mix it up with Froch in the rematch, I think Groves would've soundly beaten Froch in a rematch.
Froch can kiss his bad motherfuger image goodbye. He's a complicated man But no one understands him but his woman Froch!
I'm losing respect for Froch if he doesn't give Groves the rematch ,considering all the **** he talked prior to the fight ..
If Froch doesn't rematch Groves his legacy will be that of a tough guy who got by on luck more than ability and who ran from any rematch he thought he may lose. His behaviour shows he is far from what he portrays with this warrior nonsense. Warriors don't whinge and moan when they get beaten fair and square, cry for rematches they don't deserve and then refuse to rematch those who truly deserve it.
I believe Froch neeeeds to rematch Groves. He owes it to the fans and his wife lol. If Bute gets past Pascal, Bute will use his rematch clause in Montreal and Froch will have a nice payday there win or loose.
Froch was turning the tables on Groves for several rds. Groves caught him early and was winning early on, but at the time of the stoppage, Froch was in control and Groves was a soon to be afterthought. No rematch necessary. As for Bute.....it's a fight I'd still like to see, but Bute has no legal recourse if Froch decides to go a different route.:think
The fight did not have a conclusion ,regardless of what went on before the stoppage we don't know how it would have ended ..If any fight needs a conlsuion its this one !
I'm not sure what Frochy's angle in here. He gets clubbed like a baby seal if he rematches Ward and why would he want to go out like that b/c the fight would be so one sided that it would likely lead to retirement. I really don't think he's delusional enough to think that he won a clear stoppage over Groves despite what he says in public.
I agree. Needs a proper conclusion! Even if Groves dropped and beat the count... survived the round, who klnows what could've happen. Froch will never refuse a Bute fight in MTL. Money talks!
I don't dislike Groves, and I wish him the best, but he wasnt winning the fight at the time of the stoppage, and the he was almost certainly gonna get hurt had the ref not stopped it. Yes, it was premature, but there was no need to see Froch continue to drive power punches into Groves chin, which he was clearly doing just prior to the stoppage. It sucks for Groves that Froch is nearly the end of his career. If this was 3 yrs ago, Carl would be salivating at the opportunity to make the rematch. Now, he's just gotta get a legacy fight and a $$$$ fight. He should offer Stevens a shot at the SMW title, and go up to LHW for Bute if Bute should beat Pascal.:think
