Further enhanced legacy, respect, increased offshore fanbase, even more money than just HBO. These are all the things Froch can offer Ward in a quite winnable fight, even in the UK to be honest.

I like Ward, but there's absolutely no reason for him not to have fought Bute. It would have been a huge unification fight, his biggest payday by far and a winnable fight. Yet he was claiming the widely regarded other top guy in the division had to 'earn' a shot'. Seemed ridiculous at the time, and still does. Especially when further down the line he was lining up a fight with Kelly Pavlik (who'd done what to earn his shot???).

Froch stepped up and annihilated Bute in style, took out a mandatory and then just beat Kessler. Meaning in the last year he's beaten two of the top 3 SMW's in the world and picked up two belts - he's done exactly what you should do if you're working your way back into a fight with the so called 'Top Dog' of the division. So, unless Ward is going up to 175 then Froch is THE legitimate fight for him. And when you're making a fight you go where the interest and money is - and that's the Uk.

I mean seriously, why fight in some half full hall in the USA for a mediocre purse when you can fight that same opponent in front of 40K fans and clear $2-3million? That's an honest question.

 

You're right that big win over Berrio would top beating a former Undisputed MW champ....yeah.
