can't believe the results of this poll. i actually had froch edging it, but thought the consensus was that dirrell edged it (or according to MichiganWanker won easily). also, as an aside, i thought at the time that the fight was awful, but watching it back, it wasn't too bad. a bit messy, but quite entertaining.
Knee jerk reaction. Froch went from Eurobum after Kessler to 'the man' after Abraham. Fact is, he got schooled by Dirrell, couldn't land at all and looked like a caveman in there. If Dirrell had been a little less negative, there wouldn't even be any question, but the negativity gives the Froch crowd wiggle room to claim he won.
Not everyone fights like Duran or Tyson. If you don't see that you're a fan of certain styles of boxing, not the sport as a whole. Dirrell backed Froch up into the ropes late and hurt him, what more do you want? You want Dirrell to slug with Froch? So your boy gets to fight his fight?
I wanted Dirrell to actually do a little work on the inside so that aspect of the fight wasn't so lopsided and counter more- basically, do what he did the last two rounds in the other ten rounds of the fight. Then he could've come home with the title. There is one caveat: Dirrell also got hit cleanly in the last two rounds, too. Maybe he didn't open up earlier because he didn't have enough faith in himself that he could stand up to an entire fight of that.
Froch can't box and he has little defense against a good boxer like Dirrell. He got the Calzaghe style home decision which is the usual bizness in the UK with their drunken fans and beady eyed judges.
what if we rephrase the question: who landed more clean punches, Froch or Dirrel? Would anyone (who has watched the fight recently) seriously argue that Froch did?
You don't think there is any middle ground between Duran's style and Dirrell's? Come on... I appreciate all styles. Defensive, offensive, it doesn't matter to me. However, the simple fact is, you need to do more to win titles in boxing. Fighters should be encouraged to give it all, not run and moan. Like I've said before, there has not been one worse title winning performance in boxing, without injury, DQ etc.. It didn't deserve to win a title.
You are an idiot. It's quite funny really how the Americans used to hate the Brits attitude of superiority however in the last decade the situation has reversed. Everything not made or produced in America has to be inferior to American including people. Prejudice is alive and well in modern America. It's got something to do with being an Empire. The Poms attitude came from their empire covering 80% of the civilised world. The current empire is the USA. Btw, I am not saying all Americans are like this far from it, its just the uneducated minority like MichiganWarrior. My mother is American.
