I think your right he needs to rebuild and get some confidence back. All this talk of Kessler is wrong IMO. Last thing he wants is to go into a war with Kessler.

:goodNo way will Sauderland let Groves anywhere near Kessler atm a third defeat would pretty much be the end for him.

I excpect to him to have a couple of keep busy fights before he gets the winner of Abraham-Smith in Germany.

Then maybe a unification fight with Degale if he picks up the IBF title

I said on a different thread i think GG was over confident and thought he had the beating of Froch, it was close up until the stoppage but i had Froch in front.

the only thing that worries me about Groves is when he gets hit he falls apart and looks like he is about to go, he just cant take a good shot.

But i do think he would beat Abraham, Stieglitz,Chavez Jr, Smith,Bika and become a world champ.

Dont think many are totally writing him off...still has world class abilities...up there or even better than some/most. It's just that his durability isn't going to be good enough for the top top level,...and it's kind of a big one not too have to remain there.

One things for sure at that level, your going to get hit and hit hard eventually in a fight.
Will he ever be able to deal with it?? Can it really be improved upon all that much??
Look at all the other fighters at the top of the division/s the vast majority have one thing in common, they can hold a good shot.

As terry said he has the beating of Abraham, Stieglitz, chavez jnr, smith, bika, i would even throw in degale, kessler, froch and this one might be far fetched....andre ward. In that he has the tools to trouble them all and even beat them. If you gave him froch's durability anyway.

But out of that list...he didn't beat froch and wouldn't, he wouldn't beat ward, chavez junior i dont think so not seen enough of him tbh, leaves Abraham, stiegliz, smith, bika (tough one), degale (another tough one), kessler (another tough one but reckon he's too far gone now thought he was for the kessler/froch 2 fight).

But it doesn't mean he'll beat any of them apart from smith anyway...i would beat smith...no offence to paul...he's the man imo when he's talking boxing, he's good just not on that level. Hope he gives a good account of himself in his world title fight tho.
I still have groves edging degale, beating abraham, stiegliz, smith, bika, kessler...obviously after a rebuilding job...but he's always one decent punch away from starting to fall apart and it could be against any one of them...and thats where the problem lies...it's actually a bit cruel because he's a very very good fighter but flawed much like khan is. It can be improved on, things can be done to help, but as we've seen with khan it eventually keeps cropping back up again and again.

Dont remeber many that were able to change it, probably klitchko but had more to do with being about 5 inches taller and 50 pounds heavier that everybody else and changing how he fought with them advantages...i still say if he got tagged enough he would revert back to how he was, i m not talking about getting stretched by a one punch shot like groves was, that can happen to anyone, i mean how they react to heavy punches...haye was the same luckily and george has done it in the past too they come back fighting and end up being too much for the other man...bruno was the same but when he took a big shot everything went out the window, khan will be the same when he gets tagged from another heavy handed fighter. I know that heavy shots will hurt most but all of them struggled to act when they took big shots...all were good at dishing it out until it came back their way. Look at froch doesn't like them seems visibly hurt by them but still remains aware of whats going on...without that ability you will always be vulnerable at top top level.

Hard for George to have low key fights after headlining infront of 80k.

I can see him being on the undercard of Abraham/Smith maybe against Steglitz . But should he be on the undercard of 2 guys he beats (see TKO round 2 smith especially)

George had the ability to dish out a lot of punishment to Froch at the end of the day. I dont buy that Froch was under prepared the first fight, I think the knock down in round one was the reason he looked terrible, George deserves credit for that knock down in the same way Froch deserves credit for the rematch KO. He basically took a shot back in the rematch and couldn't take it, that's the bottom line, he can administer serious punishment but cant take much. time will tell if he will be able to adjust enough to avoid getting hit, to me he seemed pretty good at covering and worming his way out, so don't see that as am impossibility.

I think people forget he took on this fight at a young age, it was dangerous and he needed the best people around him possible, I think he did himself in a bit on that score. something tells me George can be his own worse enemy.

^^^He did that...but a lot of it was mind games...i ll knock froch out in three rounds easily...then came out with a game plan contrary to that.

Froch should be having a good laugh about it all now, he's put it to bed. But no he's still being a ***** about it all...good luck to him but their's something missing...even with the hot wife, the millions, the titles etc. Not someone i could support anyway.

at the end of the day he is a young guy in need of proving himself, of course he is going to be a bit lippy, it made the fight more interesting. It was a good ending to the saga but don't particularly think George deserved to go out on his back cold, I see it not as fitting, more the reality of the situation. getting joy out of seeing a young fighter destroyed isn't something I get off on personally, even if I dislike them. I was awed by it but felt bad for George, I think even Froch did until George pissed him off again.

Wrong thread mate. This is the final, final, final thoughts thread for those bleeding hearts who just can't let go of the fact that Greaves lost, and are still trying to find ways he coulda, woulda, shoulda won.

This thread, wordy as it is, can be summed up in three words. If, if, if.... :good

fair enough but it did make the fight more fascinating, seeing George's confidence, people actually felt he could do it. He expertly built up the fight, I don't agree with everything George did and he looked very stupid at times but at the end of the day it made me want to watch the fight more. he paid teh price by losing, I dont think people, or Froch himself should milk it further to humiliate Groves, its unattractive.

As for Froch, sometimes I like him, he seems to genuinely want people to like him, I even think he tried to make a mends with George at the end of the fight by saying some nice things. but then he will say something very annoying, he totally reversed his attitude, maybe George said something wrong but Carl should have more class. he would look a lot better if he didn't continue slagging Groves off. maybe he just isnt a very nice person who knows. I don't rate his girlfriend much, I know everyone wants to bang her but she comes across very irritating to me, especially with that gob. I have the impression she might not stick around much if Carl lost his fortune, bad form to slag his partner off I know. what was with the proposal, did she turn him down of something?

EDIT - sorry a bit off topic!

Ant man...a boxing forum your actually meant to talk about boxing because you enjoy the sport. Not come on to talk boxing in order to agitate others. It's embarrasing at times. Why would any happy person waste their own time?? I swear that most people out there's only interest in football/boxing etc etc...is just so they can get one over each other and irraitate someone else and it's always people that haven't achieved much at either of them. We all like a laugh...but it gets taking too far...a lot of people have left forums for that very reason. People just on to agitate others there's room for everyone...but can any of the agitators actually come on and give in-depth opinions however wrong of fighters fights etc?? I dont think they can thats why they revert to agitating others/goading etc. Half of the people wouldn't do it in real life...their usually sound enough...why not be a sound **** on the internet...it wont cost you nothing!

rski haha. Still laughing at the proposal...only carl froch could take it back lol. She was definetely up for it. I think she forced him into it tbf, he's done it after a big celebration then he's thought **** that...i m miserable carl froch afterall.

    If's, but's and maybe's.

    Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing ?

I predicted Froch would box more cautiously and use his underrated jab, and that he'd get to Groves and stop him in the second half of the fight.

I also said that most of the Groves **** talkers, telling us that he'd school and stop Froch, weren't actually fans, just froch haters jumping on the bandwagon. And i predicted that they'd drop him like hot coals as soon as Froch beat him.

I'm still astounded by the amount of clueless idiots that thought Groves would actually beat Froch, and even more astounded by the predictions of him KO'ing Froch.

Froch was more than holding his own by simply boxing behind the jab, and as soon as he turned it on he blew Groves away. As somebody already mentioned, Groves looked reasonably comfortable until the first heavy shot was landed by Froch, then his gameplan went out of the window and he started to make mistakes.

Didn't i also say Groves had NO ring IQ ?
