Okay Froch is the winner officially but who do you think deserved to win the fight? if a rematch happened, who wins Froch v Groves 2?

    1. Who won the First?

    2. Who would win the second?

My opinion: 1. Groves could of held on to nick it on close points.
    2. Groves (if he boxes more this time)

Groves TKO 1 is the most credible answer to the first question.

    Second? Groves.

Personally, I think Groves was on his way to taking the fight.

But, we'll never know. Rematch must happen.

There is not a chance in hell Froch will beat Groves if they fought again.

Froch isn't good enough to adapt, whilst George will learn from the minor mistakes he made and will crush Carl.

Groves didn't/couldn't put Froch away. If it went the distance Froch should of lost. It didn't go the distance. And as soft a stoppage as it seemed, I think Froch had him. And the ref stopped it regardless, so Froch did win.

Not sure who'd win the second. Froch being put down in the first had a massive impact (obviously) on how the fight went. He recovered and fought back to where it looked like he was getting on top. Groves was brilliant each round before.... So, 50/50?!?

I had totally overlooked Groves, written him off actually. I had to eat a big ****off piece of humble pie after the first round!

Groves is simply better than Froch, more adaptable and obviously has good power as have never seen Froch dropped like that...right on his ass.

    Groves wins the rematch anyday.

I watched the fight last night, Groves gave a top performance against Froch who's defence and timing was all over the place. Groves could not miss him. Froch only won rounds 5 and 8 and they were both close rounds. However the effect of the whole fight was getting to Groves as the fight intensified, the more durable fighter in Froch was eventually prevailing. Groves defence in round 8 was showing signs of deterioration and by round 9 his defence had failed him. The ref stopped it as a result of Froch landing clean and unanswered punches. Groves was staring at the canvas when he was getting hit. Froch won the first fight. He did not win many rounds and was outclassed at times however he won the fight. If the ref let it continue, which under the circumstances with Groves healthy lead, he maybe should have, Groves would have been stopped badly.

There is no way to say this with any certainty. Froch put a lot of effort into that bum rush and missed most of the punches he threw, had it gone on for 10 maybe 20 more seconds, it's concievable that Froch could have run out of energy and Groves could of got back into the fight. Froch is a highly conditioned with great stamina but even Froch can't bum rush people like that for 3 minutes of a round.

Agreed. I re-watched the fight again last night with the sound off and Froch wasn't as out of it as i thought. Although Groves was clearly out-boxing him and winning by 5-6 clear rounds, Froch was gradually wearing him down. I agree on the 8th round, although Groves may have nicked it with cleaner work, Froch was nevertheless getting through with some hard punches, even though most were missing, grazing, hitting gloves. The main issue is its hard to tell when Froch actually lands as he looks messy and ungainly when he throws his shots. But due to his long reach and awkward style of punch throwing/hooks, they did hit the target at times. He was hitting him with punches that I never thought he did. Also add to the fact that Groves was tiring and he was standing and trading, there is a good chance of him being stopped in the fight. Yes the ref takes some of the blame by stopping it a little early, but you can easily argue that Froch would have stopped him later in the round or the next one.

Groves simply couldn't put Froch away, he threw everything at him and his tiring at the end was no surprise, which was ultimately spelling his demise. He should have slowed down after the 6th/7th, the 8th round took a lot out of Groves. In my opinion, had he paced himself after the 6th, he would have walked away with a UD. Froch is a fighter that gets stronger as the fight goes on, even when he's clearly losing, he can get amazing energy when he get success, no matter how little. This fight showed Froch make a comeback when normal fighters would have folded.

There is no way you can say for sure groves would of got brutally stopped later on if the ref didnt stop it?

For all you know when groves staggered a way, if the ref didnt grab a hold off him and froch still came to groves, for all we know groves could of landed another of his right overhand hooks.. And froch could of been the one whos hurt.
    You just dont know!

My opinion is that groves would of done a Degale and nick rounds, hes capable of that which is why I was angry more at the ref, cause carl froch looked tired and slow imo.

I think Froch wins the 2nd fight which I do believe will happen but not until its left to simmer first. I think that big shot was the reason Froch timing was so off and why he seemed to box so badly (it took 7 rounds to shake off). Groves needs to do the same again to stop Froch which is a possibility but there are no surprises for either fighter now after the 1st fight. If it goes on to the middle to late rounds Groves gases and Froch catches him again.

The time when he should have done it was after the 6th/7th. Standing and trading with a fighter like Froch is silly, especially when you're tiring. Rewatch the 8th and 9th rounds and you'll see that Groves made the mistakes. Froch has a history of getting stronger later on and stopping fighters, Groves just got his gameplan wrong at the end.

Carl Froch won the fight in round 9, ive just checked boxrec

We clearly need a rematch as there are endless threads on a number of websites, which basically have fans of both fighters debating and trying to justify who should have won, what would have happened etc etc

We now have and endless amount of Froch haters coming out of the woodwork, and picking up on points about his arrogance, and how he was lucky etc.

I think most people are agreed that the stoppage was premature, and most people agree that groves was winning the fight by at least 2 rounds (4 on my card). The hard fact is that Froch won the fight.

Taking the above into account, if Froch fights on, then a rematch is his only reasonable option without disappointing the fans.

I actually think that Groves would be better off going another route, but that's another debate
