Great point really. Universem can bill him as the guy that beat Duddy. Problem for Sturm in this fight will be Billy is just as fast as him. But Sturm will have the hometown advantage in a big way I guess.

The UK Telegraph reported this morning that Mick Hennessey excpects to enter into talks with Bob Arum this week for a possible Pavlik/Froch fight. I don't know much about the credibility of this source. They could be reporting wild rumors.

However, there has been no official announcement of Pavlik/Mora. Kelly did not want that fight. Leow did not want it, and Dunkin did not sound to keen on it either. It seems that Arum is the only one who actually wants this crap.

Abraham/Lorenzo is still not listed on Box Rec. They usually move pretty fast on postng future match-ups, but they have not posted this one, and we all no about Arthur's weight issues.

Pavlik/Froch could be a real possibility. If it happens, Froch will lose his title and his zero, He is precisely the type of fighter that makes Kelly look good. who knows, afterward Froch might even shut up about Calzaghe.

Arum will talk to anyone about anything, well, except for Goosen. I bumped the Pavlik/Mora no announcement thread the other day was was just thinking of doing it again. This is weeks over due now.

Pavlik had wanted a 'break' so maybe he decided to take one?

Kelly seems to be the gold standard as far as Brit SMW's are concerned. Notice in the front page article that the FIRST name out of Froch was Kelly and he actually demoted Ole Joe to second? "Brilliant Stuff!" :rofl

Jim Lampley laughed when Kelly said he was going to back Miranda up, and look what happened. He'd back Froch up too. Pavlik mostly puts opponents on the back foot with that jack hammer of a jab he has. JT could not miss Froch with a jab. KP has proven twice that his jab is every bit as good as Taylor's, but we know it's much, much stiffer. Double-jab, right hand over the top of the low left, and Froch goes backward. Kelly stays on him, pushes him back to the ropes, and beats him like the proverbial red headed step child!

Look at it from another angle; Against Pav defensive flaws get you knocked out, and Froch defends himself with his face.

Sure, but predicting a 3rd round KO is very much delusional. People come on and just make random posts without giving it any thought: what would make you believe Froch could take Pavlik that quickly? Pavlik's poor chin? Obviously not. Froch's devastating power at the start of fights? Again, hell no. If you really think Froch is that superior when he was 14 seconds away from being outclassed by a guy Pavlik wiped the floor with, you shouldn't be watching boxing.

I hope to God this does happen. The idea of Pavlik wasting 4 months of his career on a chump like Mora is just ****ing sickening to me. Pavlik vs. Froch would be an exciting fight, and it would actually do something for Pavlik's career. With luck, Arum will get in there before Bute/Andrade, and a deal can be landed asap.

Pavlik will hit Froch with the jab. Well duh!
Anyho, at mw Pavlik can back any fighter up, but he's not looked as convincing when moving up. It's gonna be much more dificult against Froch because he's (for all his flaws) he's as strong as an ox. He certainly appears stronger than KP.
Also, Froch is by instinct a counter puncher, he much prefers opponents to lead against him. When you consider that Pavlik is a slow plodder with little or no head movement then you end up with a gruelling war of attrition. Pavlik has the advantage in offensive technique but is inferior in strength and punching power. If KP were to win his workrate could also come into play.
I think its a pick 'em fight, a decent(ish) worldclass matchup although obviously way short of elite standard.

I don't think Froch is that superior. Actually leaning towards a Pavlik win if the fight ever happens. Just think an early ko (for either guy) is not far fetched. They're both decent punchers with poor defense.
Also Pavlik never wiped the floor with Taylor. He was nearly flattened himself in the first fight and just scraped by in the 2nd on points.
