i just cant see froch winning this.

Froch is great against more limited come forward fighters like Abraham and Johnson.

However will always struggle agains more technically gifted boxers.

He struggled massively against Taylor and Dirrell, And i believe ward as a lot better than these 2.

I would love for froch to win but i just don't see it.

Well you say Ward will pot shot Froch from a distance, they both pot shotted Abraham and froch did it better, so many are underestimating Froch. To me its a 50/50 fight

I expect Ward to win but wouldn't be completely shocked to see the contrary. Froch has an awkwardness factor that can kick in as a positive against anyone, no matter how unexpectedly, coupled with much grit and what was previously underrated skill. That said, I am assuming Ward will out-think him and even if it's fairly competitive (if it is, it will be ugly/competitive, I bet), he will get it on the cards, I'm thinking.

    Hold on there, Sonny Jim...

If we go by what your saying then Froch must go at Ward with constant pressure and give Ward no time to think

In that case it would get ugly, as I expect Ward to charge at Froch. Rough him up at close quarters and not giving him any room to move and punch.

Froch will have to work his footwork in camp so he can (try to) avoid and/or counter Ward. Froch will need his jab and uppercut bigtime.

Ward will win though. Speed is the issue. He is just soooo much faster than Froch.

well if Ward Charges im sure Froch will give it straight back, i agree ward is faster but not as faster than froch than most seem to think. But as ive said Froch has faced adversity in the ring to a greater degree than Ward at top level

Thing is, Froch is not like Kessler - he won't get distracted by the dirty fighting, he'll be more than happy to participate in it himself and he'll never feel hurt by anything Ward throws.

I feel Ward has to fight from the outside to win, otherwise it's a matter of time until he gets tagged.

I agree mate Froch has the chin and the heart and will glady fight rough so maybe constant pressure is the way to go giving ward no time to think

Naah. Fighting from the outside against against Froch will be suicide. He has a telescopic reach.

Abraham and Johnson are good. I just mean they are limited compared to direll and Ward and Kessler in terms of boxing ability.

From a distance, yes. Just not the same distance. AA looked totally helpless against Froch, and could at least aspire to land looping hooks against Ward as he was within range.

I maintain my thought, Ward will play slick at mid range. Exclusively on the outside - too risky unless he's content with an SD eating jabs all night. Exclusively in the pocket - there has GOT to be a Froch uppercut landing at some point, so risky as well. He'll choose his shots wisely and try to dodge everything that's thrown at him, making Froch look wild/dumb in the process.

I don't, but I respect the idea. He's adopted that strategy numerous times in the past. I think we'll see BullWard only if his corner thinks he's behind on the cards.

Bingo. Ward knows Froch likes it rough (!), almost as much as he does. I still believe Ward would do a good job handling the crazy Froch from R12 vs Kessler, and do that at mid-range with the odd grab+hold+punch-as-they-come-unstuck when necessary.

Fighting on the inside against a guy with a great chin who doesn't mind fighting dirty, who seems to be very physically strong in there and has a lethal uppercut isn't the best idea either.

It's a closer fight than most are anticipating. The edge goes to Ward based on his speed and skillset but the intangibles Froch has around his reach, power, chin and stamina make it a highly interesting fight

    I actually believe Froch wins.

Thing is, Kessler didn't fight to his natural advantages in their fight and ultimately paid the price for being too nice of a guy and not fighting dirty with dirty, kinda like Kosta Tszyu when he fought Ricky Hatton.

Froch will bury his head on the nose of Ward if Ward tries that **** against him. Ward has the better jab but mid range effectiveness against a guy who comes forward, throws weird angles and doesn't get easily hurt? I dunno.

For me, the thing that keeps coming to mind is that I don't see Ward lasting 12 rounds against Froch without being tagged and in the past, when Ward gets tagged, he's shakey. We know Froch can finish fights.

Styles make fights. Kessler had a weird style against both Froch and Ward and was not the fighter he once was, he didn't establish the range he normally fights at. Froch's worst range is from the outside, his best range is mid to inside. Ward needs to beat him from the outside in my view.

Ward will use his "hit - run forward - hug" move he used against kessler. I think Ward will get tagged if he stays on the outside.

Froch's worst range is from the outside? Because he's slower than Ward or..?!? His jab can be pretty solid. On the other hand, some posts in the Ward-Froch threads suggest, and so does Froch himself, that Froch is going to hurt Ward real bad IF (IF!!) he tags him clean & hard. I don't think Ward's chin is that shakey, nor do I think there's any basis to confirm the contrary. Ward IMO will avoid the bigger punches, and gladly roll with the rest if they can't be dodged.

In round 12 of Ward-Bika, after Bika rocks him with THREE decent rights on the INSIDE, Ward SMILES back at him, charges, and transfers weight to his head by leaning onto Bika left EYE SOCKET, and Bika gets Kessler-blind for a sec at just under 1 min left in the fight. Check it out.
