you are right my bad ...the reason i said it was because Dirrell and Ward likes to throw shots from different angles. RJJ mastered it well and it seems like alot tries to copy that.

Dirrell's biggest flaw is defence & ring generalship, he backs up too much and concedes ground, his fast feet have kept him out of trouble thus far but he has never been in the ring with someone like Froch who will! try to run him out of the ring.

Come on, what better way to gage someone's worth at a weight class than if they have a belt that they deserved.
Sure, there are other ways to assess that fighters worth.... but you can't deny that having a belt at least represents SOMETHING.
Waive it off, fine by me.
But understand that your standard is by definition significantly more subjective and less salient.... because it's based on nothing more than personal inklings. Which are nice and all, they make that anti-fan happy that they can undermine the worth of someone they don't like.

But, if you're going to hold an objective/physical standard (having a noteworthy belt) as not actually having the worth that it's supposed to represent.... then all you really do is muddy the water more, because again, your standard is even more diffuse and intangible than the one you're attempting to undercut.

You are right, my opinons are subjective, which all boxing predictions/opinions are. Once again, just because you have a bet it doesn't mean you are an A+ fighter. I have seen Pascal fight probably 6 times and though he has some talent he really is not anything special. And once again I will reiterate for you, Froch holds a great win over Taylor, but if Taylor had not gotten winded he most likely would not been caught and ko'd and would have won the fight.

That doesn't matter though, I take nothing away from Froch, I simply say that he in my eyes is a solid B fighter, nothing more, and this fight will more than likely represent what Dirrell is or what he can become more than what Froch is.

To say simply because you hold an alphabet title that that automatically puts you on another level is unwise to say the least.

So in your opinion Carlos Baldomir is an A+ fighter simply because he held a title. And not only that he was the undisputed Welter weight champ.

This is a good post and I agree. I have seen enough of Froch's fights to know what he is. He is a Solid B fighter who gets his rating for being a good puncher with a good chin and sloppy defense. He is slow of hand and foot. He shows hardly any boxing angles and his lateral movement is minimal. What he lacks in skill he makes up for in heart. I am not a Froch fan because I like to see boxers instead of brusiers, but I admit he is kinda like a gene hackman, an everyday man. I can see the appeal there and I watch him fight everytime I can.

I cannot say whether or not Dirrel will win, because he is a green opponent who seems to get by on his athleticism. I suspect Dirrell will get a clear decision, but I will be sure to tune in.

I think Dirrell will scurry out of harms way when Froch bulls in and should be able to roll a lot of Froch's shots. I heard he was planning on fighting this fight all southpaw which I greatly disagree with. He may find it much more difficult to get away from Frochs right hands. His defense will definitely be tested and I think we'll all be impressed by him in this fight. He hasn't had the level of opposition to display all of his talents but I think this is the fight to bring a lot of it out. I backed off of the landslide UD I was thinking earlier to a respectable 116-112 in favor of Andre.

I'm not saying that just because a guy has a belt he's an A+ fighter. But I am saying it's a much more objective standard than yours (thanks for agreeing with that).
Also, just because you can find an example in which a guy holding a belt might not have been the best doesn't mean every example is a similar case. You don't prove that Froch is a B fighter by pointing to Baldomir holding a belt and saying "See, I told you".
    That's just obnoxious.

The whole, "So in your opinion Carlos Baldomir...blah blah blah".... no, that's not my opinion. My comment was simply that the standard you're trying to argue against is at least an objective standard.... while the one you maintain is even more flimsy.

All the cheerleaders you can accrue aside.... you don't prove squat by drawing some connection between Froch and Baldomir.
