It certainly is not. Luckily for Pavlik his poor resume does not alter the fact that he belongs at world class and he did not suffer from stepping up in class suddenly. He is genuine world level material and has proven it, but as I have also said he is very flawed and would be dismantled by the likes of Kessler, Calzaghe and depending on how his chin is...Bute.
Hardly mate. Why bother lying? You made the thread for the SOLE reason to big up Pavliks record. And I have said on other threads (where you jumped in to agree with me) that Pavlik would take out Abraham. I rate Pavlik, and I am not even a Calzaghe fan, I was supporting Lacy when they fought for example. You are being totally disingenuous if you say did not make this thread with Pavliks resume as the motive. And Calzaghe has every right to retire now. I hope he does fight Pavlik, but to imply he is scared to when he took on Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins with a couple of years time frame and past his best is fairly pathetic.
Hermit my man -- this thread is amazing. I made a thread about Zuniga, and the Calzaghe Queens came out of the woodwork, and tried to turn it into another "let's bash Pavlik" thread. I tried to keep it on track, but **** it; I surrender. These guys just cannot handle the fact that Joe will retire without fighting Pavlik because Joe knows what they can not admit.
You are DEAD Wrong Strike. I made a thread about Zuniga because i think he is better than he generally gets credit for! I wasn't even a Pavlik fan until the McKart fight, and guess what! I went into the fight ROOTING FOR BRONCO. That's when I became a Pavlik fan. During that fight I took note of him. That doesn't mean I stopped wanting Zuniga to get credit where it is due!
Not sure, but with some of the things he has said, I have the impression he either has a boxing background or has studied boxing. Maybe he really does admire boxers and their efforts? Really, how many peopel posted "WHO?" when Pav/Lockett were announced? I look at the 160 rankings of the different orgs and scratch my head. I follow 160/168 fairly closely because Pavlik is the home town boy. Any effort to throw light on the division is welcomed by some of us. People turning this into a Pavlik thread are more likely or just as likely to have an agenda. At least some MENTION Zuniga and what they think of him before blasting the thread starter and Pavlik. Signal to noise ratio is just horrendous on this board sometimes.
I have mentioned Zuniga, my first post was entirely about Zunigas resume but with the added comment that I was sure this was an attempt to hype Pavlik. I will take Booradleys word for it and assume he rates Zuniga. I do not, and I would like to know which victory of his is of any note. I broke down who he had fought and lets be honest when the best win is against a shot to **** Echols without a win in years it is not saying much.
Someone noted in another thread that boxing is not like a tournament where you keep advancing. Sometimes it comes down to signing the best available willing to sign. Sometimes knowing who WOULDN'T fight a particular fighter is just as telling. This is where information breaks down. A thread like this tries to shine light a fighter to get more information. I know Boo asked P2K in another thread to drop in with some thoughts and insights.
Zuniga would easily be a top-10 MW right now if he stayed there. At SMW, there are just too many guys ahead of him. I agree that he's underrated though. Good wins over Zertuche, Oganov, Echols and Lopez (who is also underrated because of his crappy record, but who is currently a Ring top 10 MW), only losses were two an undisputed champ and a solid beltholder who beat Margarito. I think most people think of him as a gatekeeper, but he could win a belt under the right circumstances.
I agree Zuniga should fight at 160. I can see him beating most of the top 10. I think Duddy/Zuniga would be a very good fight. I think Zuniga takes this because Duddy is to easy to hit, and Zuniga can bang. However, if Duddy pulled out the win, I would see it as a much better win than the versions of Eastman and Campas that Duddy fought. Boo
